hair line scratch on full metal hand gun

Ok ok let me clarify. The key is the key from the trigger lock that I bought from CT. The key is yellow so I just assumed it is brass. :p To be honest with you I have no idea if it is brass or something else, but it is yellow.

It looks like a smudge/smear but it didn't come off when i rub it off with a piece of cloth.

Have you tried bore cleaner yet? Anything that removes copper fouling will remove a brass smear.

These finishes do scratch, but I don't think you have caused enough damage to cause rust. Just cosmetic I'm sure... post a pic and let the experts tell you.

no not yet. Is a bore cleaner the same with the lubricant/cleaning slovent that comes with one of those cleaning kit made by Otis?

Use a GOOD bore cleaner, something like Butch's Bore Shine or Montana Xtreeme and I get you it will come off. I've removed all kinds of brass or copper smears from various firearms over the years this way.

If it's really a metal smear chances are simply rubbing with a cloth won't work.

Something like Flitz is a very mild abrasive & should remove brass residue. You could also use some Birchwood Casey Brass Black which will blacken the brass and blend it in with the gun finish.

Gun shops should carry this.
