Where to buy a colt mt6700 in Canada?

Been on import ban since the 90's.....good luck (and no, I won't sell you mine :D)

Lol...buffalo gun seems to think it's cdn legal, and while I will check legality, looks like about $1400 + taxes... Or am I missing something?

I've been wondering about this too. Where to get a Colt MT6700?

All it is, is a 20" barrel version of everyone's beloved Colt 6920 with a FIXED stocked. While the 6920's are rare, they are legal for import and do pop up.

Why would the Colt MT6700 be banned or un-importable/prohibited in Canada if other AR15's or other 20" AR15's like Stag's be perfectly legal?

Well, it isnt necessarily logical to ban it... But this variant is legal even in California, which tends to have goofy laws... So I think it Would be okay here.

Don't know where you're getting your info as I bought one within the last ten years from Ellwood Epps (and they had at least three or four at the time). All new production. Still kicking myself in the ass for selling it in a moment of weakness. To the OP, you're probably good to go for importation as they're actually marked .223 on the receiver and not 5.56. Good thing with the newer ones as well is that they are standard sized fire control and takedown pins - unlike the older iterations. I swapped the barrel out with a NIW chrome lined Colt hbar barrel with an A2 flashider (as the barrel that it came with wasn't chrome lined and had a target crown with no threads). I'll post a pic of the one I had if I can find one...

Cheers,

Okay... Here we go. Forgot to mention, mine was an "a2" fixed carry handle version as that was all they had in stock at the time... Man I miss this rifle...

When I look at the RCMP site, I dont think the colt ar's are banned just restricted. I'll have to call, though.

And Im looking at the 20" since it's longer than 18.5", just in case the 'scary' criteria is relaxed and barrel length becomes the excuse for restricting the ar variants

You're right, Colts aren't banned - the CFC/RCMP doesn't have anything to do with the particular brands that are imported into the country. It's more likely what the US government allows for export. They're in the restricted firearms class - just as any other AR is in the country. I'm assuming you're referring to the importation when you're speaking of "restricing the ar variants" in your last comment? In any event, good luck to you, and let us know how you do.

I don't mean to thread hijack but while on this topic, why are Colt AR's so hard to find in retail here in Canada. They have the cheap brands, the intermediate brands like Stag, super expensive brands like Noveske but NO Colt?

The search function isn't the greatest but from what I've heard, they do pop up every now and then in EE or some retailers and they charge like 150% the U.S. price.

While I understand import costs, U.S. Stag AR's are like $1,000, while Canadian ones are $1,300. That's an understandable difference. However Colts are marked up 150%, not like it costs more to import a Colt.

So whats up with the lack of Colt AR's and the huge U.S. to Canada price discrepancy in regards to other AR's.

actually, what i ws referring to was the criteria for restricting centrefire rifles on the basis of barrel length. should the rules change, a 20" barreled AR wouldn't be a restricted weapon because of its barrel lenght.... a 16.1" rifle would be.
