Ipsc holster for p226

hi,

I am currently looking into getting all my gear to start IPSC production. and i would like to have some feedback from people that have been at it for a while

1- how well does the P226 hold up to holster wear?

2- what would be a good holster to get ?

Pretty sure I seen a Speedsec holster in the equipment exchange for a good price for a Sig. They are a nice holster.

If you get a race holster (Like a CR Speed WSM or Model "A") there won't be any holster wear. - more expensive option; but faster smoother, consistent draws. Not "Tactically-cool" if that's what you're into.

If you get a kydex holster, (Like an ITAC) there will be holster wear, but they're cheaper (Slower on the draw) and can be used in the US and with other shooting games like IDPA.

I shot a 226 for the last 4 years in IPSC and IDPA. The Speedsec holster is great for a race style holster for IPSC, no wear on the gun, easy draw unlocked no chance of the gun falling out when locked.

All regular holsters will wear the finish, like most modern guns a standard 226 is fairly resistant to wear. If you have a full stainless model I doubt that you'd notice any serious wear at all.

If you want a holster that plays well in both games (IPSC/IDPA) I always recommend Blade-Tech or Comp-Tac. Blade Techs 'Revolution' combo pack is a great deal IMO.

I have a holster from Tucker Gunleather that is a Kydex type holster but leather lined. Works great and no plasticky feel against the gun.
I think Silent Thunder industries has this as well.

ok,

sofar i think i will go with a race holster, and speedsec seem to be the least expensive of the lot.

anyone in canada sell these?

i have also looked up the CR-Speed, Double alpha, Ghost. is there another brand i might have missed?

trying to get a balance between cost and quality.
