On my Savage axis 22-250 I have a Redfield Revenge scope(6x18x44). I had it sighted in at 1.5 inches high at 100 yards. Should be darn close to spot on at 200yards. Once I sighted it in, I re-installed my bore sighter just to document where the cross hairs are for future reference( in case the scope/gun takes a jar and I suspect the scope is out).
Today I set a china plate (7 inches round) on the side of an old barn exactly 115 yards away. I aimed about 1 inch up from the bottom and could not hit the plate with 4 shots! I installed my bi-pod and tried a couple more shots and "nada". I thought "what the heck"??? I drove back to the barn and my shots were exacly where I was aiming, but about 2 inches to the left. At 115 yards I thought for sure the shots would be close to 1.3 inches high hitting dead center.
What could have happened? I checked my scope rings and rail and everything is tight. Should a guy re-adjust the turrets? If so I would have to go a long ways up and at 1/8" increments, thats alot. Now I know "why" when I shot at a coyote yesterday at 180yards, I missed him.
It really absolutely sucks to not have a good range close by. If we did, I would spend a good day there!!
