UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

JohnC how do you like the green front sight? I am not sure if I will go with red or green...

I've tried both on handguns over the years and I personally much prefer the green. But there's arguments for both. see link.

Brownells sells fiber optic rod refill paks in 3 colors part # 100-001-459 for the .060" size that fits Steve's front sight. They're easy to replace.

Fiber optic colour ...

I also give a thumbs-up to the green colour. I put a Tru-Glo green bead on my Marine Magnum several years ago and it made me a believer. Best $20 mod ever ...

So I recently went with a Steve's Gunz green fiber optic on my Ranch Hand, and couldn't be happier.

I just tested my bear loads at camp, and they have virtually no recoil and are min load for 300gr hard cast.... damn. I guess I will use my factory 240gr for bears... I am also finding the powder burns really dirty (H110). The new higher front sight from steves has got me about 2 inches above poa with my loads and 4-6 inches above poa with factory ammo.

I have andycal's extension coming up here and am very excited to try it out! :D

well mine are because I started with the minimum powder load. So really it is my own fault. I just wish I went straight to near the full load. Oh well, next time.

Driller 212's rear sight?

Mr. Driller,

May I ask what your rear sight is?

I know that you've probably already mentioned it, but this is such a loooong thread.

You may remember that I've "settled" on the Steve's Low Flat-Top rear sight to mostly solve my Rossi's "shooting high" situation.

it is the low rear buckhorn from steves guns. I dont like how easy it is to adjust it though it moves too easily.

I had my Chiappa 357 ML out this weekend I was going to shoot a tree rat (racoon) but had to put it to gether first so he got a way
Spent the rest of the day playing with my mares lag shooting about 100yards with out a full stock I was pulling to the right sum .
Sights ar good out to 100 yards
The Mare's Leg's needs a full stock to make it a hunting rifle fo me!

Has anyone else had their cartridge guide screw fall out???

Mine stripped and fell out. I looked at the screw crazy thin and small threads, however my cartridge guide has much larger and coarse threads.

The question is am I alone? Did someone thread my guide wrong or put the wrong part in my gun?

The only way to keep it running to is sit the bolt in the hole and put tape over top of it...

haahaa I wish I know how to post pic my rossi mini carbine( Haida carbine) is soo sweet i just put it in a box for the gunsmith
Wen I have moor time shes going to be engrave and a carved stock but right now this stock will have to do
