.22 LR ammo price trends?

I'm fairly new to shooting, so i haven't been tracking ammo prices for long, but it seems the .22 LR ammo price is going up?

local WSS has bulk packs in the > $25 now, and even walmart up'ed the prices by close to $1 for bulk packs..

it's negligible difference, per cartridge on the whole, i suppose, but nonetheless.


How do you find the ammo prices in your region? fair, high, low?

Actually, if I remember, we were paying about $1.79 for a box of 50 Imperial about 40 years ago. So prices are still darned reasonable.

buy your 22 seasonally, like in the spring, on 25% off

buy the good stuff, and you can save all year shooting it

Nosale sports is a rip off here. Walmart or cabelas are way cheaper I have found

$1.79 in 1972 money is right around $10 (to be precise, $10.08) in today's money, accounting for inflation, according to the Bank of Canada (http://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/related/inflation-calculator/). Was .22LR really that expensive back then?
