SKS Chromed Bolt?

Can you chrome a bolt of an sks rifle? I'm concerned about the increased thickness of the bolt and of it malfunctioning. Thanks

You must mean the bolt carrier, the actual bolt is covered by the bolt carrier. I believe the Chinese hour guards sks bolt carriers are chromed. So shouldn't be a issue. But polishing does a very nice job too.
