M&P 22 pistol

The owner of Questar (Scott I believe,but I've only met him once and I have a poor memory for names) noticed that S&W used a different method for measuring barrel length than the CFC and under the latter's rules the M&P22 is not a prohibited pistol.
He imported one to test the theory and when it was approved for import he ordered four more,one of which a friend of mine in Kingston was able to buy. I happened to be on the last day of a visit when he received the M&P,so I was able to examine it but didn't have time to shoot it.
The pistol is actually made for S&W by Walther to the high quality you would expect from that company. The fit and finish are excellent and the trigger seemed better than any standard cf M&P I've tried.
The M&P 22 does not have the interchangeable grips that the cf pistols have. The fixed grip feels like a cf M&P with the med. back strap installed.
IIRC Scott said he informed North Sylva the 22 was legal but they showed no interest in importing them so Questar will probably be the only source for the near future.

I too exchanged a few emails with Scott from Questar and he said that he did have extra magazines on order but they would not likely be in on the same shipment as the pistols. They will be selling for approximately 39.99. I also spoke to Perkins gun shop in Pembroke as they deal with Smith & Wesson M&P pistols inquiring about this. The owner (Lance) put me on the phone with some guy named Rob???(no idea from where) to ask about the importation of these pistols. He confirmed that there is a Canada friendly version slated for export, but wasn't expecting them till late August. This Rob guy seemed very curious about any other company selling them as he claimed to be the sole importer for ALL S&W pistols for Canada. Take that for what its worth.

That's awsome that the mags are cheaper than the standard mags. I think whoever Rob is sounded disappointed that they weren't the only ones who caught onto the fact that so many of us want one. Lol! If they aren't here till late August, that would be fine. It's all about patience when it comes to our hobby. I'd like to think Questar is right, however.
As far as them being the sole importers, I have a feeling that North Sylva might have something to say about that. Lol! They are the ones who sold me my M&P VTAC and my other M&P's. Unless this Rob guy is from there. I think MD Charlton imports Smith too. Politics is a funny business. Glad im an end user.
Silly question perhaps, but is there any possibility the rcmp could later classify this gun as prohibited due to the information provided by s&w? I mean, according s&w's spec's on the gun, it lists as prohibited and everyone initially thought it was. If the rcmp decided to go off of the spec's or measure the pistol the same way s&w did?
Reason I ask is, does everyone remember the m&p22 it was important as non-restricted wasnt it and the mags? They were imported at what, 20, 25 or 30 rounds then banned? even though a .22 rifle classifies as unlimited.

They won't do that.
They have a set way of measurement that they do it by. They won't change to screw us over. Some of those guys who check the stuff out are gun guys anyways. The other thing is, they probably already know.
m&p 15-22 was deemed a variant of an AR, therefore restricted.
the 25 round mag was fine until s&w released the 15-22 "pistol" which screwed everyone over due to pistols being restricted to 10 rounds.
it was advertised as a "pistol" by s&w and the only difference was it had no stock and a 6" barrel
