There is a company that has started up manufacturing shotgun shells in Carberry Manitoba. Don't know much about them other than what their website says. In keeping with the no hotlinking policy, google "prairie shot carberry" and you will find them

I'm not aware of any other ammo company that list prices on their site. Would be nice if they list what the difference between all the different loads they carry tho.

Guys--I sent an email to Prairie Shot asking about why no prices are listed. They just sent me a reply saying that the reason no prices are listed is because at this time they are looking at dealing with retailers only. If they can't get enough interest from retailers, they said they then would deal directly with the public. They said the price range would be in the area of $8.50 for steel shot for a box of 25 shells. I sure hope that turns out to be true. I also asked about low pressure loads for vintage guns. They said yes they can make low pressure loads to whatever specifications one wants. I just sent them another email asking if low pressure loads could be bought directly from them or if that too will go through a retailer. I am awaiting a reply.

Ask for their products at your local gun shops. It's the best thing you can do to support these gents.

Do they actually have any product ?

I first heard of them supposedly producing shotshells I think over 2 years ago. Never seen anything yet.
If the plan is to get retailers stocking first before selling to the public without any sample ammo to hunter & target shooter org's to generate demand, what retailer would risk ordering an unproven product and reduce inventory of what he knows he can sell ?
I call pipe dream that will fade away to nothingness, please prove me wrong with product. A flat of target shells at or under $60.00 will do for a start.

A flat of target shells at under $60 is the last thing the guy should do as far as a business plan goes. Someone will always sell it cheaper. And if cheaper is all you got, you won't last long. Like gunsaholic suggested in his post a business plan centered around reasonably priced but difficult to find loads (low pressure, 21/2 inch etc) might stand a better long term chance. Seems to have worked well for RST in the US.

I agree with the bolded, but as a poor shooter....I like it :shotgun:

I'm waiting to hear back on distributors or if you can buy direct, but $8.50 for a box of steel seems like a steal. Lead for $6/box is even better.

Only wish they made 16 Gauge shells...V:I:

The website shows target ammo is one of their focus items , I can buy flats of Federal Top Guns for under $60.00 before taxes at the local WSS. No way I would pay AA prices for an unproven, no reloading data shell.

I opine that offering low price, low pressure 2 1/2 shells would not have anything more than novelty value in Canada. While they would be great for us that have vintage SxS's that the loading would suit, there are vastly fewer of us potential customers here that the US.

With dare I say, far far and away more high volume target shooters than occasional vintage SxS shooters in Canada, I'll agree to disagree.
