Who has owned/shot a Bushmaster XM15?

My first AR was the 16" xm15-e2s. It was a good rifle...no issues at all. Had it for 3 years (and only put about 400 rounds through it). Knowing what I know now I think they're over priced for what you get (if bought new). I sold mine a few months ago for $1150 (only change was a UTG quad rail added to it...I know, I know). There is alot better value in other brands (ie. Spikes, LMT...).

I had a Bushmaster A3 Entry I believe is the correct model name. Was about $950 USD. The rest of our shift ran XM 14" barrels IIRC.
That is about a 5yr old price. Semi/Auto, however Semi only and Semi/3rd rd were all same price. Hard plastic case, two mags(30rd) sling. I added two 60rd mags to the mentioned price.
I had absolutely no issues of any kind with the AR or the mags. Was one of my favorite guns and went pretty much with me everywhere. It ran rounds thru the barrel like a water hose, 2) 30rd mags + 2) 60 rd mags, any orientation..upside down, sideways etc.
I sold it because sadly the Crown doesn't trust me with FA guns and big mags, but Transport Canada will let me pilot a plane.....go figure?
Not sure of Canadain pricing but they are still pretty much the same price in the US as when I got mine depending on dealer.
Bought an XM-15 HBAR in flattop with a fixed stock in 2005. Bought it from P&D in Edmonton. Shot close to 2k through it.
The only day at the range I ever had stoppages was when I shot Wolf and the primers were falling out into the receiver and jammed the trigger mech and the chamber.
I would say on average I was shooting 3'' groups at 100m prone, unsupported.
20'' was a little long and on my second XM I went with a collapsible stock and a 16" bbl.
The only issue with wearing out parts was my firing pin, I was getting some bizarre deformation on the lip near the rear of the pin, but I just replaced with a milspec pin and never had another issue.
All in all a great AR, served me very well, and good resale value

I still have my Bushmaster, have ran over 10000 rds through it with zero issues, have taken her out on MIL exercises and ran 30rds through it a lot without any issue. In hindsight i would say it worked out great, but not sure what they are doing now. In the US QC seems to be more of an issue and many of the points that are mentioned against them in US like M4C are over exaggerated in many cases and are not really an issue. If you have one already swap out a few parts on it like the BCG and get an FA would be my best recommendation, there barrels are made of 4150 steel and 7075T6 or whatever so you got a lot of things on there that are exactly what you want. Usually they come in a 1/9 twist that works great for a broader base of ammo apparently... They make a good tier 2 or 3 AR that will fit most needs but not exactly most wants...Mind you I have as mentioned before swapped most parts out on her now..

I have owned a 10.5" and two 16" and all worked fine. Not the nicest but you do get value and i like the cobra. I'd compare it to DPMS, Stag, etc....

For the record I never had to change out anything I just did it for experimental reasons, but I think if you kept up with regular parts maintenance the gun will run like any other M4..That being said other companies on the market make a superior longer lasting rifle in many regards, Shrubmaster seems to cut corners on some things but goes above in others...Most of there rifles are built for civilian export reasons I would say..but LEO and other duties they seem great. Mind you the model I had was built very well to MIL/Spec standard minus the BCG and semi lower and civilian buffer tube and stock...
Some guys in the US hate them and for good reason but I have never seen any bad CQ issues with them per say in person.......
In today's market I find the go too rifles are obviously KAC,Noveske,LMT,DD, and BCM for DI to name a few, one thing I have found is many companies have there die hard supporters that comment on many other manufactures based on jumping on the new bandwagon.
I find the BCM craze a little irritating in some regards..

I haven't had that much experience with the AR. Truth be known, most of my experience with the platform comes from the C7 in the CF reserves. But I liked it-it was a nice fit for me, recoil was effortless, and I appreciated the rifle's practicality, the elegance with which it was constructed. I might actually prefer a Colt, which I feel is more linked to the rifle I trained with, but am keeping my options open.
