Were there ever any rifles chambered for this basically dead round? It seems to be a shortened 308 opened to 44 caliber. It would be something different and a fun plinker on a savage action if its doable

As far as I'm aware it was strictly a pistol round and the only pistol I recall is the Wildey, same as Clint used in one movie, maybe "The Dead Pool".
It was, as you say, a cut-down .308 case.

It was actually made be Auto Mag Corp. The Wildey, was used in Death Wish, with Charles Bronson..

Someone watched Beverly Hills Cop 2 again.

I bet it would be nice in a little semi or handy little carbine ala Ruger 77/44. No rim to foul the feeding...marvelous.

Actually came across it on ammoone.com or something like that. They have over 1600 cartridges available. It was compared to the 44mag.
Just thought it could be a fun close range plinker for cast bullets in a bolt action. I don't know if they make a 44cal barrel for the savage. Could be fun if doable
