The stand looks good and solid, but if thats bailing wire... You are going to be repairing that thing in short order. My spinners are mad of 1/4" mild steel and every few months it breaks the welds and i have to re-weld it. The ,22 is more powerful than you'd think.
 
cool idea. that wire will break when hit with a 22. i went with chainlinks to hole them just weld a tab on the frame and use quick connects.

oh and go get a .22
 
All thats holding them are plastic zip ties I used for the picture and painting. Finished product will be using chain and clevis's. That's why I said "nearly" finished. :p

It's 1/4 plate steel... Do you guys/girls think that will be good enough? I got it for free anyway so i won't be out anything.
 
Money has been tight lately but the gun store I deal with does payments for firearms.. Should only be 2-3 more payments to go then I'll have my ISSC MK22 to have fun with.
 
Nice little setup there now go buy yerself a .22 and have some fun!! :)

I have a spinner target and some silhouettes that I made up and my girls and I will have hours of fun with it. Good times. :cheers:
 
.22lr cant even dent 1/4" mild steel plate, my gong just has chips in the paint and huge craters from 12 ga. slugs :D I stole some chain off a rig from work to do some modifications but the plate is gtg after thousands of rds.
 
weld a link to the top crossbar and use a quick link to hang the target. that way when you go out and some dink hits it with a FMJ centurefire you can change it out.
 
I would mount links of chain to the front of the horizontal tube, cut open to make a hook, positioned vertically. Then mount a length of chain off top L and R corners of each gong and hook the chains to the bar via the hooks. Have the chains angle outwards away from the gong so they dont twist and turn when hit. Use nice hot tacks to attach everything, poor fusion will lead to eventual failures. Then when its time to pack up you can unhook the gongs, you could also make different gongs and switch them out as you like.

Thank's supernova, hometownhero and regulate34. I'm really liking the quick detach options.. It doesn't look big in the pictures but the setup is about 5 feet long and 3 feet tall. Having some stuff removable will make moving it a lot easier.

I used 1/8 x 1 flat stock on my target stand. They have a hole drilled thru them and they are held in place by nuts on either side. I'll see if I have a pic I can post to shw you what I mean.
 
Here's a couple pics of one of the target stands and some silhouettes that I made. You can see in the close up how I used flat stock on threaded rod to hold the spinners. A jam nut on either side of each one holds them in place. Not sure if this will work for your stand but just an idea.
