Daewoo K11 Advanced Combat Rifle: The Future Has Arrived

Funny to think that little korean soldiers would be carrying that monstrosity around. I agree with the shotgun in exchange of the 20mm frag round, but regardless thats one stupid F'in looking weapon. can someone do some more photo edits and put some hilarity into it? that would really make my day!

Take that oversized optic off, and it'd be a decent looking rifle... Not great, but decent.

An Elcan would suffice...

Great use of photoshop. I did want to see it without the 1985 VHS camera on the top. Can you put an acog on there?

South Korean soldiers are very tough and strong. These are the same soldiers who carried M1 Garands in the jungles of Vietnam.

I'm no infantryman, but tube launched grenades much smaller than the normal 40mm size don't seem to all that useful, especially when you have fancy airburst fuzing taking a bite out of what's bound to be an already limited payload.

Sticking what amounts to a 5.56 PDW to a "grenadelette" launcher as an afterthought only adds to the sillyness.

Agreed having been to S.Korea several times.

I'm 5'11" and I was surprised that many under-40 Korean guys were right up there.

Interesting link, enjoy~

Vietnam, Rural China, Phillipines have the stereotypical "short" heights, but Korea is comparable with Canada.

It's not meant to have a huge burst range on it, just enough to take out enemies behind cover. For example, behind a concrete wall or a short cliff in mountainous terrain, or taking cover behind a building wall, where a 40mm grenade wouldn't necessarily kill the guys. Either go over top, or explode in front of them and not hurt them.

These 20mm grenades can go right over top or around the obstacle and explode in direct view of the enemy, the shrapnel killing them.

Although the US did come to the conclusion that 20 wasn't as beefy as they'd like so they upped it to 25mm for the standalone.

The South koreans seem to have come up with a solution that took a LOT of weight out of the OICW. If only they came up with a smaller optic, even a bushnell rangemaster scope with an arming system would probably be better.

Indeed - I was suprised to learn when I lived there that every male goes into military training as well.

However, although the daewoo k1/k2 was a pretty cool rifle this thing looks retarded. A bolt action grenade launcher in 2012 is the best they could come up with? (Must have had the good techs working the Daewoo car line).

Lmao, I thought this was a joke. 13lbs empty?, non resetting round counter? , uses the same safety for grenade launcher as regular rifle? Sounds like evolving backwards to me.

You can have the same timed airburst capability in a 40mm, also still use the full array of standard 40mm grenades and be a lot more versatile and effective, not to mention 40mm ammo even in airburst form probably costs a lot less than its miniturized counterparts.

I just can't see a 20mm or even a 25mm mini grenade being all that effective, especially against troops with decent body armor or against vehicles. The USMC seems to agree;

Looks just like that NICW gun from Red Faction II.

Which was the exact same thing: rifle and grenade in the same gun. Too bad i can't find a side picture.

I can't help but wonder if the Koreans at any point hired members of the OICW design teams as consultants and failed to make sure they weren't trying to a) get paid again for work they'd already done or b) altering the project specifications so they could keep tinkering with their great idea that almost worked that last time...

What a fricken boondoggle -- NO ONE wants to carry a GL on their rifle -- you generally don't use the GL when your using the Rifle - so why carry 5-6lbs or crap all the time -- its awkward.

Secondly who in their right mind puts a GL round in a bullpup? Like your head much...

Morons.

This is what happens when you don't let your shooters have input to a weapon, and some staff weenie is creating a requirement.

I have always thought this, shooting with a GL attached is s**t. I like the old thumpers.

Never touched one but the new Hk stock looks good to me. I'd rather have a C8 and pass around the GL within the section.
