I've got a metric crap load of .308 and 7.62x51 brass I'm thinking of selling... what's the current street value of this stuff?

TIA

All once fired by me, in as-fired condition (not cleaned). I've got bags of mixed headstamp commercial .308 and bags of mixed headstamp (DA and IVI) 7.62

Well, NEW brass (308) is $32/50 or 64 cents each at one store I know, so I figure 1F brass is worth about 1/2 to 1/3 of that so 20 to 30 cents each is what i would be asking.

Closer to 30 if you cleaned it up and sorted it by headstamp and bagged it in 50's or 100's
Closer to 20 if you dont.

This is my opinion, and I am sure others have different opinions......

At the Crane Hill Gun show in Sudbury a couple months ago I picked up 240 mixed Win/Rem/Fed once fired .308 uncleaned brass for $45. So $0.19 per case.

Milsurp I have no idea.

I haven't bought brass in a long time and the OP asked for the current price of brass, so you should probably ignore this post...!

Having said that,....

- it would be pretty silly to pay more than 50% of the price of new brass, so that's sort of an upper bound

- an absolute floor on the price would be its value as scrap. If you can get $2/lb for scrap brass, then each case is worth 5c as scrap.

- for once-fired good commercial brass (e.g. Winchester), I would consider 20c to be the "buy lots and lots" price; 30c and beyond would be pretty uninteresting.

- for military brass, I would want to pay less, due to the extra prep work involved. If I could get 1X fired commercial brass for 20c, military brass would have to be 10c or cheaper in order for the work to be worthwhile.

- having said that, for some people (M14 owners, arise.....!) military brass is more desirable because it is heavier and stronger. For the right market, military 1X fired brass is perhaps worth just as much as commercial 1X fired brass is in another.

Commercial brass
Sorted by head stamp
If you want to sit on it for a wile $10/50pcs
if you want to sell some of it $9/50pcs
if you want to sell it Quick $8/50 or less
Millitary brass even lower $$ and it has to be reloadable

If the person you sell it to can pick it up you will sell it even Quicker

Im interested in 2-300 for the right price
