My new Norico M-14's problem

When I put the mag in to the rifle.

I pull the blot to th end,the blot will be stopped by the blot lock,right?

But, if I move the mag,the bolt will kick back by itself!

It seems like the blot lock can not lock the bolt if I move the mag.

Anyone konws what's the problem?
 
Sounds like a sensitive bolt lock/magazine platform relationship! Nothing major here.

Can you describe the word "Move the magazine" ?

Do you mean remove the magazine out of the magazine well? Do you mean 'shift' the magazine by pressing the magazine release?

Either way, this does not sound like a big problem, judging by the way you describe it. We need more details, the typing on the internet does not give us any indication of the severity/context / details of the situation you have.

How about posting a YouTube video with your smartphone? Lots of the younger generation of shooters are more tech savvy than us old pharts! ;)

Yeah gave me a head ache readin. :p

Im guessing mag is empty it keeps the action open. Im new to the m14 so I don't know if the bolt catch/release functions the same as an M4 where it keeps the bolt back where you can insert a fresh mag hit the bolt release and continue firing.

It does, and it's considerably harder to insert a mag with the bolt closed.
 
Hi Mike, welcome to the M-14 addiction.

Does your rifle let the bolt go forward with all of your magazines? Are you using 5/5 short mags or the longer 5/20 mags?

There is a raised portion on the magazine follower in the back left corner, that forces the bolt stop up and in the way of the bolt face. Make sure your magazine is fully seated.

Remember to insert mag at front first, and then rotate rearward pivoting on the front, up into a crisp sounding locked position.
If you are inserting mags properly and all your mags do the same thing, it must be the bolt stop itself.

I mean remove the magazine out of the gun.
The bolt will go forward.

Hi,

Yes,It let the bolt go forward with the mag on.
I'm using 5/20 mags.

My mags are working well in all my friemds' M-14s.

If it is the bolt stop's problem,how to fix it?

Where to buy a new bolt stop?
 
Mike make you rifle safe, hold the bolt all the way rearward with your right hand while inserting the magazine at front ,pivot rearward and see if that little over hang tab on the magazine follower pushes the bolt stop upward, or if it is by passing it. You should see the bolt stop resting fully in a notch in the receiver as you draw the magazine to meet it. It could be the lip on the mag is to short or the bolt stop .

Hi,
The bolt stop is not "resting fully" in a notch,just a little.

If I remove the mag,the bolt will pass the bolt stop and go forward.

My mags can work well in the other M-14s,only not work in mine.

So, I think it is the problem of bolt stop,or the bolt.

Does this rifle have warranty? I just bought it from Canada Cammo.
 
I would say you would have no problems with this at Canada Ammo.

So you mag doesn't have enough of a lip to push up your springloaded hold-open device , and the bolt is only stopped on the mag follower itself.

With the bolt held to the rear, you should see the magazine follower moving up and hooking the hold open and pushing it up inway of the bolt face.
 
Hmm, I mean, it's great you're asking and trying to figure it out yourself...

...and for the record, it sounds like your mags arent the problem, the stop isn't stopping the bolt, or the bolt won't let itself be stopped by the stop...

But CanadaAmmo would surely set you straight. Also, pics are worth a million words.
 
I'll pitch in. I have the exact same problem. Insert a full 5/20 mag...shoot five times, click! It does not hold the bolt back on the last shot. BUT if I pull back on the bolt with an empty mag it it will hold the bolt open. However when I release the mag the bolt will come slamming forward and scare the bejesus outta me haha. The odd time it will stay held open until the lightest bump. I can take a picture and video if that will help?
