Black bear hunt 2012, i choose my Steyr 450 Marlin...

Leaving monday in 2 weeks for our summer house up north for our annuel black bear hunt, this year i have choose my Steyr 450 Marlin with 400 gr Swift a frame bullet, my brother saw a couples of 300 pounds + in the last weeks, should be and awsome hunt, keep you posted... JP.

Never tried it hunting, will give me a chance to see how hard and accurate the rifle is, i still consider it to be the back up rifle to my 416 Rigby on my first trip in Africa in 2013... JP.
 
Lol I don't think there will be much meat left on the bear nor will the hide be any good after being hit with that
 
The swift a frame 400 gr i did reload are almost solid construction, made for dangerous animals, i expect no meat destruction but a lot of penetration, sure i dont want to take a shot a 25 metres on a cub, i will be at least 80 metres and hopefully be taking a shot at one of those 300 pounds+ ... JP.

Less meat damage than most smallbore magnum cartridges and it kill just as well or better.

Absolutely correct, as opposed to what some of the "experts" here have stated.:rolleyes: At bear-bait ranges, it's difficult to imagine a more perfect choice.

He will probably be able to eat right up to the hole.

Caramel, as the others have said the combination you've chosen is excellent.
