Making a Coach gun..

I was wondering what the legal OAL is because i was thinking of making a coach gun from a Stevens model 311 SXS 12 gauge.i would like to cut the barrels down to 18-20 inchs and cut the stock 3-4 inchs and make a brass buttplate. BTW i have this shot gun on EE now so if it does not sell this is my plans.

I'm pretty sure it's 18" minimum length for a shortened barrel, and 26" minimum overall length to stay within the law.

How do you plan to fill it?

I cut mine down. I fulled the space inside the cut rib with epoxy and then painted it black. I have never noticed it since, so I guess it worked. I did it because one barrel was damaged.

Wrong.

Law says 18" most gunsmiths follow the law. I know the big gun store smith that did my gun cut it to 18" with no issues.

im a welder lol so i was gonna cut a peace of sheet steel and weld it in. i still havnt gotten the shotgun when i do do it ill post pics. (if its not as big of a space as im thinking i might just fill weld it.

I have a 311 that I bought many years ago in the states, apparently the Virginia State troopers carried them, tht's where I bought it, had it since the 70s. and it came with 20 in barrels that shoot very good for pattern.

Some one decided semi auto is scary at 18 but OK at 18.5 its Canadian. Gun laws none of them make sence.

Oh and that only applys to you modifying the gun a non semi auto can have any lenght barrel and be non restricted. As long as it is over the overall lenght. But semi's. Are restricted cus of barrel lenght
