How about in a safe, in my bathroom? If I put a lock on my fridge, can I store them in the kitchen? Would the ammo be ok in the freezer, if it had a separate lock?

Ammunition doesn't have to be locked. It just needs to be separate from the gun. i.e. the gun cannot be loaded. If you want frozen ammo that's up to you but in a closet or box it is fine.

Your safe can be anywhere in your house.

If you're trolling you need to try harder :)

The question that was not asked or answered is simple. It is illegal to keep a gun any gun loaded for defense in a urban setting .If you live in a rural area there is a little wiggle room but you will be charged as well with present gun Gestapo in Ontario. Simple answer no ammo not loaded locked and useless dial 911 and just the facts mam let us sort it out and my name is Friday if you think of any thing else give us a call

an old fridge would make a uber low budget gun safe, but i guess its not exactly "designed to store firearms"

That would be a redneck win though :>
