Anybody hunt with their LR firearms?

Once I get my M700 5R in .308 set up, I hope to use it for the "evening shoot" (last hour of daylight) where we pick a spot and sit during whitetail season.
 
Sure do, sold this rifle but when Sean gets my new one built it will be going out in the field with me.

I used to, but when the average shot was around 100 meters it seemed like overkill. I also nicknamed it "The Car Axel" because of the weight.

I now use a Tikka T3 SS that's about 4-5 lbs lighter than my heavy bbl Remington and more than accurate enough with hunting ammo. (MOA at 100 meters)

I think I enjoy hunting much more with the lighter rifle and can certainly go longer and harder but "hey" whatever turns your crank. If you don't mind lugging it, than more power to you.
 
I have used mine for hunting, I went with a 20' Heavy Barrel so it's still practical in the field. The deer I've shot haven't complained :)
