Betraying your Tavor... so soon?
I still want the Beretta ARX-160. I'm not sure you could import it directly from FNH, either. And even if you could, do you really want to drop $5k to have it sit with the RCMP for 2 years while they "assess" it (with the risk that it could be classified as prohibited)? I think an RFB would complement your Tavor nicely - and it would probably be less than half the price. I can't believe an image of an XCR-M just flashed into my head, either...

That was when the registration of non restricteds was in effect. The RCMP wouldn't issue a cert without the FRT. Now that registration is no longer required ...
If you were to bring in an entirely new firearm, you'd have to get it inspected by the CFC for them to make sure it qualifies as non-restricted. When they do this, they give it an FRT#.
Otherwise, you'd need to get it verified EVERY TIME.
