Thoughts of BX25 mags for 10/22

Lol. What he means is we can't have them here as they are a prohibited device because they were marketed to also fit the Ruger charger pistol. If we could have them they would have to be pinned at 10 rounds by our pistol mag laws making them quite useless as a high cap mag.

Yes, but the other high cap mags/drums are only specified for 10/22, SR22, which have no limit. As soon as specified for use in Charger, they are considered pistol mags which are limited to 10 rounds. Don't worry, we all know it makes no sense, but those are the rules. What everyone needs to do is contact Ruger and complain. If they feel there is enough market to come to Canada they may repackage an "altered version" as only for use in 10/22, SR22.
I emailed them about something else last week and they replied within 2 days. This is the best way to get them to do something.
i have always used butler creek steal lips without any issues. you are not alone in having problems with the hotlips version(plastic lips). i have a few friends that use them and they occasionally have the same feeding issues. i dont know that there is any real fix for them you may just have to switch over to the steel lip ones. most venders will sell them for around $30. my favorite mag is still the factory 10 rounders coupled together with a trimag adapter from alangator, nice low profile and they never misfeed.
I'm sure there is many Canadian dealers that have them. I got mine from brownells when I was grabbing some other stuff for $11. But remember in the end the overall cost to have 30 rounds will be more than a standard hi cap mag. $11 for the trimag, $20-$25 each for the factory 10 rounders. I just happen to have enough 10/22's that I had a half dozen factory mags already sitting here.
i know the BX-25 is "restricted", but id think if a guy was able to get his hands on a couple, and just used then like regular mags, and kept his yap shut about the "restricted" factor, they'd prolly have no issues..... just my opinion.
Actually it's prohib... but on the rest if one is willing to take the chance (I'm not) you're probably right.

I am wondering why the Butler Creek ones are not illegal. Don't they fit the charger as well?

Sure they fit the Charger. They just don't advertise that they fit the Charger and the capacity of the mag is determined by what it was designed for. Ruger does of course advertise the BX-25 as fitting the Charger, therefore it's prohibited in Canada.
Make sense? No, but that's the Canadian Firearms Act for you.

Butler Creek mags say they were designed for 10 22. Because they don't mention Charger pistol they are considered rifle mags and unlimited. BX-25 say designed for 10 22 and Charger, so considered a pistol mag which is limited to 10 rounds. You can have a BX-25 as long as pinned to 10 rounds.
But the Tri-mags are almost 100% reliable which is worth a few bucks extra. You might want to buy the Tri-mag bundle -- 2 Trimag connectors + mil-spec belt pouch -- from Trail Track Sand on Ebay. They ship to Canada, too.
I've also noticed that the CCI Velocitors appear to jam in the BX-25 (You Tube and comments online) and the Tri-mag should clear that up.
