Got my birthday present from my brother and his girl friend today. Its a new Savage Model 93 .22WMR stainless steel with a bull barrel. Pretty happy with that. Made in Canada too. That's pretty awesome. I went out today and got the 3-9x40 Tasco Scope for it. The one thats on special at wholesale sports that comes with a free Gunmate range bag. Pretty nice range bag man. Anyone who has a .22 and needs a scope for it, go check this deal out. Its only $59.95. I also got a set of Remington sling swivles and a simple nylon sling. It doesn't even look like a .22WMR at first glance from the left side. I just cleaned the rifle well I was uploading the photo and i'm impressed with the quality of the gun. I tested to see just how free floating the barrel is and its perfect all the way to the reciever. Makes me wonder why I decided to buy a Ruger 10/22. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow.

I run that scope on my Savage 64. Except when I got it it came with a .22 bore snake. 3 years later and it's still doing just fine. Nice gift! I grabbed a similar gun a few weeks ago. The 93R17 bull barrel stainless with the thumbhole stock. Have you shot it yet?

Gun as a gift~you're a lucky S.O.B.! :) I love my Savage .22WMR, you'll love yours too I'm sure. Lots of punch in that round, I like shooting mine.

I have the same rifle but not stainless and love it ....only issue I had was the blade that the mag slides onto had to be bent forward a tiny bit to get the rounds to feed into the chamber better . I also put it in a Boyds Tacticool stock .
Great little rifle .

I'm going to try the rifle probably some time today. I'll take some photos of my targets if I get a chance to go shooting.

The 10/22 is fun in its own way for rapid fire metal plinking 25 - 200 yards or shotgun shell and golf ball shooting at 25 yards. I don't try to precision shoot. Already tried and got pissed off when a cheap mossberg 702 plinkster was getting better groups at 50 yards.

Don't let the Ruger fans read this. :) Not all .22 semis are inaccurate, but my own Ruger 10/22 was barely "minute-of-pop-can". If you want a semi that shoots better, but costs about 1/2 of what a 10/22 does...look at the Marlin 795.

As for your Savage~.22WMR will bring a smile to your face if you've never shot one. Like Chalkriver, mine is the blued version of your gun. Shows a strong preference for Hornady 30gr. V-Max, but bring a few varieties with you.

This is the 25 yard target. I first fired 3 shots with 40gr and then 3 shots with 50gr just to see the difference. The groups are really tight. I'm really impressed since most of them look like 2 shot groups and one looks like a 1 shot group. I just did 3 shot groups until I sighted the rifle in the center. The center group is 5 shots.

After I sighted the rifle in for 25 yards, I then sighted it in for 50 yards. I only used 40gr bullests at this point. It started off high right, then low center, and then center. Pretty dam good 1" groups going on there at 50 yards.

Now this is what really impressed me. This target is 100 yards. (91 meters) At first I aimed dead center. Oviously was going to hit low but by how much? Got a pretty good 2.5" group. I tried again but aimed for the bottom of the red bar. All shots were 40gr FMJ 1.5" group!!!

What are my thoughs of the rifle after its first time out? Its pretty wicked awesome. Don't want to make this sound like a sales review on youtube but all in all, really glad I have this rifle. My brother and his girl friend picked out the best, most awesomness, wicked badass, rifle for a birthday present. Man.... I only got him an H&R Pardner for his birthday. Oh! If anyone wants to know, the ammo was Federal Champion 40gr FMJ and Federal Game Shock 50gr HP.
