Actually Basspro is where I found the A400 for $1099 too (another great deal).
It sucks for the smaller dealers to try to have to compete with their pricing, but I guess that's just the way things are these days. Buying power is a huge advantage...

A rumor that the A400 light will no longer be available. Still,a great gun, not sure why they would sell below cost.

If that rumor is true then it could explain the pricing. Clear out as much remaining stock as possible?
My guess is that with 50-60 stores BP can buy enough of them all at once to get a "bulk" discount from Beretta (or Winchester, Benelli, etc, etc), much like wally world does with pretty much every one of their suppliers.
We love Browning auto's... my son is shooting the Maxus Hunter and I am shooting the Silver Lightning... they are really fine guns... you would not regret buying one... that said, the A400 is a sweet gun also... I would put the SX3 a distant third just based on feel and handling... this is subjective though... others really like the gun.
