First AR

Depends what you want to do with it.....sit at a bench? Or kneel on the ground, lay on the floor, run around or all 3 in the span of an hour? Or just make noise?

1st your budget, then you can talk

if you want to make some noise and plink, get the cheapest norinco for $700

if you have more money than sense, get one of those new expensive knights armament Ar's for $3000, but at that price you can get a much nicer non restricted gun

Budget and intended use are big factors. AR15 range from ~$700 to over $3000 and they are setup for a range of activities from close quarters battle to designated marksmen.

It’s simple to say I like my LMT, buy a LMT… but, that’s like saying I like my Honda, buy a Honda.

LOL I have been looking at the Norinco I have one of there 1911 lots of lead thru it no problems but it's no gold cup :). I want to be able to add quad rails and dress it up, purpose run around all 3 eventually. I have been looking at NEA $1000 to 1400 price range

dpms oracle is 850 bucks but it has a non threaded barrel and no sights at all and your only option is gas block mounted sights wiich have to bring the sight plane up to the rail.
I like the spikes suggestion mentioned above

well sounds like NEA is not the way to go may be ill look at norinco or questar spider.
can you put the quad rails on the norinco and pull off the handle for a red dot

Has anyone seen/handled the DPMS oracle that Elwood Epps is selling?
It comes with all magpul furniture and a muzzle brake, (so I'm assuming threaded barrel?), I looked at one the other day and was pretty impressed.

Don't discount the NEA just because a few azzhats ;) make some uninformed comments. I couldn't be happier with my NEA15 and it couldn't be more reliable. Like Mirk said, it's easy to say I like my Honda so buy a Honda.

Pick 2-3 ARs in your budget and then do your homework...look at the specs of each and compare, then search CGN and read everything you can on those rifles, and finally get your hands on them if at all possible. That is the best way IMO to decide which AR to get. Taking a hater's or a fanboy's advice at face value is not the way to choose anything.

Not sure where you are located but if you pm me and are nearby, I'd happily let you see and shoot mine any time. NEA has had some issues but they make damn fine rifles and anyone who says otherwise honestly hasn't spent much time with one.

Did Norinco change there lower receiver on there ar15 clones to except all aftermarket accessories? I know for a while years ago you could change all the parts on the lower except the stock as the threads for the receiver extension/frame (tube that holds the spring and buffer) were metric.

QFT. I have the 10.5 spider and its boss as hell. I had no doubts about buying my spikes, for the extra money compared to a Norc or NEA it puts you in a whole nother ball game when it comes to quality.

For sure.

I dropped the ball on the 10.5" upper, so Im scrambling to find one so as not to have to wait till 2013 when Spikes has more in production.
