This big guy (ok, big for a Columbia black tail...) has been hanging around my house for the past while... It's incredible how brave the deer here are, I could almost walk up and pet it... Then club it and eat it. Stupid rules.

Im struck by the irony of living in a rural area and having deer in my yard all the friggin' time, but having to drive an hour away to where it's legal to hunt to look for the "hard to find" deer.

My nearest neighbor is too close for bow hunting regs. I can use a shotgun to hunt locally though, but only as of last year. I finally found a guy who owns a lot of property who will let me on his land to hunt. Still though... I never see as many as I do in my backyard.

I have the same problem as you, tons of deer and other critters around the house. We are also in a residential area and some of the guys use long guns but I would probably use a crossbow. The problem I have is the wife doesn’t want to see or hear me dispatch anything. So I go up the road to my camp or my mom’s place to go hunting.

Oh it’s a problem I like to have as I enjoy looking at and taking pictures of wildlife. I find the salt block help me take the pictures with the trail cams as it gets them to stop and poise for the picture. I have three trail cams like that with one being at my house. The one at my house has been dangerous because it is near the lake and when I drive down on the ATV more than once I have almost T-boned a deer. So you have to be careful and the neighbours who go by in boats like to see the deer looking back at them.
