Gents,

I need a price check on a brand new scope I have on the EE. It's a Zeiss 6.5-20x50 MC with mil-dot reticle and target turrets. It is new in the box as I have a aborted a target gun build. I am asking $950 + shipping and feel that is reasonable. No offers though, got me wondering

Any insight appreciated,

Patrick

Not for targets:)

LOL!!

But a lot of Hunters won't be looking for scopes until September.

I think it might be a case of drop it $100 for a summer sale or wait 2 months to get close to what you're asking now for it.

As it is you are about $200 less than list price. A lot of guys can probably haggle $75-$100 off of that list price as well. Zeiss does have a good name though and that right guy might come along in an hour and buy it.

You also have a trader rating of 10. That may have something to do with it. I know that when I am looking at spending a grand on here, I won't deal with a seller unless their trade rating is pretty high, and by that I mean higher than my own which is pretty low compared to some dudes onhere! That is no reflection on your integrity, just a possibility!

Price is fair.Stick with it for now.

That scope retails here in PA for just below $1300 , no I do not buy optics locally.

Throw in the shipping which may only be 15 bucks and it makes the deal more appealing as the buyer sends 950 even and not $967.13 after the shipping is calculated and is a faster deal.;)

I know I like to see when shipping is included with a nice round price.

Could be a bunch of reasons:
1) No Picture - turns a lot of guys off (I asked you to send me one and you wouldn't)
2) "Firm price" so the guys that are thinking about "offering" $900 or "split ship" don't
3) Not that much of a discount on a new one from Clay at PRF who I can "Haggle" with a bit

My 2 cents

Well,

There is his problem. TR of ten, and unwilling to take pictures of the item, but is trying to move something for a grand. I see more and more of this. Guy shows up, no TR, wants to sell a thousand dollar rifle, puts googlefor pics, and you PM asking for actual pictures and he says no can do????????? Who is going to take a chance on that???? So there ya go OP, thats why its not moving, that and your price isn't that far off factory new! Good luck with your sale!

1. Put up a picture

2. Price it as "$950 shipped"

3. If you don't know how to post a picture, offer to send them via email. Send lots of them from all angles. It's free and a potential buyer can never see enough of what he's buying. They don't have to be studio quality, but have a look at them before sending and ask yourself if you'd be happy as a buyer with them.

4. Respond to every PM in a courteous manner, even if someone offers 50% of your asking price.

If you don't have the time or "can't be bothered" to do any of the above, you shouldn't be selling on the EE. :)

How about something like this:

I myself, will respond to any reasonable offer, but if someone is going to offer me $500, when my price is $1000, I likely won't bother responding.

Appreciate the feedback fellas. I agree that a photo would help and I always include photos for used equipment. I just figured I didn't need one with this scope being new in box, unused condition. But, guess I was wrong. As a habit I don't respond to extreme lowballers and like to start out pretty close to my bottom line price. If I can't get $950 for the scope I will keep it until I have a project for it to go on. Cheers,

Patrick

You have to keep in mind that buyers scouring the EE are looking for a deal unless it's something rare, collectible or in high demand, which is not the case with your scope.
Many are willing to pay extra to get a NIB item from a dealer rather than a private individual, where nothing is guaranteed and they have no recourse if something isn't as advertised.

Good luck with your sale nonetheless.

Yeah, I guess 50% was a low quote on my part. Really what I was trying to say is if someone does lowball, I'll just respond by giving my lowest price shipped in order to save time. I'm not much into the back and forth haggling, this isn't Mexico, and if someone can't come up with an extra $20, they best stay off the EE to begin with.

Just a thought...IMHO, I don't see why would anyone buy this USED scope from an unknown private individual when for 150.00 more you could buy it NEW from a reputable dealer.

If your definition of used is that the item is being purchased privately, than yes, this scope is used. However, the scope was purchased new from a retailer, and has sat in the box since. It is a new scope, never mounted, never used. I am not willing to lose any more than a couple hundred dollars on an unused item. For someone looking for this scope, you won't find it cheaper anywhere else, new is still new, purchased privately or from a retailer.

Who said anything about not being able to use EMT? I didn't list it as a payment method, but nobody has asked me about it either so I doubt its holding anyone back.

Always best to list all payment methods accepted.

Even dealers shouldn't sell an open box/display item as new, even though it's never been mounted. Is it in the factory sealed box? otherwise your's would be ANIB (as new in box) even if you only looked at it.

It is in the factory sealed box, wrappped up in cardboard, not a demo or open box deal.

Anyhow folks, thanks for your thoughts, no point in beating a dead horse over semantics. I will keep it listed and will potentially put up some pics. Getting the itch for a T3 Sporter so I may just hold on to it. Thanks,

Patrick
