Ideally, you need to know where your rifle hits from 10 yards to 300
I can guarantee that if we had to shoot clays at 10 yards with the rifle, quite a few people would be missing like crazy because they aren't familiar with their bullet's flight path.Great shooting Paul and thanks for the tips.
I have been practicing 100, 200, and 300 yards. oopps
Patterened my shotgun from 5 to 25 yards, not sure why I did not think of my rifle.
Steel messes me up too. Not sure where to aim, with handgun and rifle.
Downloaded some pepper popper targets to play with. I here the Zombies are coming in Sept. Got to be ready for the Zombies.
Again thanks to Team Hoser, great match.![]()
I'm going to assume you have a mag extension on your 870.
I'm not an expert on that platform, but have heard that there is a dimple towards the end of the stock mag tube that can cause followers to hang up.
google 870 dimple and maybe that will help you out?
Hey, is first place out of a field of two anything to brag about? LOL maybe I will stay in tac irons 30.
I was using a VZ 58. I had a hell of a time with some of the stages.I was 15 points behind you... Good shooting!
What rifle were you using? I was using my SKS )
I am a big proponent of using #6 shot or #4's for all steel targets....save the 7 1/2's and #8's for clay targets or steel that is real close...like 10 yards close. I feel the bigger shot, retains more energy to positively put steel down, even with off centre hits. Chokes are also extremely important for tailoring your patterns for specific stages....mixed in no-shoots...heavy steel....hoser stages etc..
Or you could use a turkey choke like I did, those plates never saw it coming! LOL

Shouldn't the wife be taking the father golfing.....![]()
