Well put in for a first kill antlerless deer tag and actually won! Will be my first season hunting and am totally stoked especially at the thought that I will be allowed to take two deer. Time to make plans and practice practice practice :D

How much do you want to bet the Whitetail Deer in the area you've been drawn for have already been given your picture and the time of your arrival and departure?

They will all of a sudden become rare as hen's teeth.

Just kidding, have fun and try to pick a dry doe if you can.

really you have to be drawn of whitetail? what are your deer populations like down there?

Not as good as western Canada. A doe tag is not taken for granted like it is in western provinces............... hence, hunters appreciate a doe tag when drawn. Besides, a doe should taste better than a rank rutting buck.

Regular license you can take one deer antlered or antlerless depending on the time of season. With this drawn tag I can take a doe or fawn but only in the designated zone. Also I must take this deer first if I wish to take another deer outside this zone hence the "first kill".

if this was true why would we shoot bucks in the rut????

To me, when your a trophy hunter the meat is secondary. The finer cuts are generally good, however the rest is made into sausage. A buck is still very good table fare, but not as good as a doe.

Never heard of a doe tag.....I have heard of Antlerless Tags though!

Just teasin', this is a pet peeve of mine though. I hate people calling them doe tags, or tom/jake tags for turkeys. It's ANTLERLESS for deer, and BEARDED for Turkey.

Fixed it for ya

A doe, or for that matter an early season buck, will most always taste better than a rutted up buck.

Something about those hormones...I always thought that we hunted deer during the rut because they are easier to find and more careless in where they show themselves, thus making it easier to hunt...
