A friend of mine dropped of a New Chinese, Remington copy Model HP 9 shotgun with approximately 13" or 14" barrel. He wanted me to look it over and give him my opinion on his new toy, while he is out of town.
I need someone who is familiar with the HP 9s for their opinion, and experience with the product.
Two things that I found strange are the action bars on the pump system are Brazed on. The weld is a brass colour, is this normal or has it been repaired?
The other thing I found, no late style magazine retainer and tube cap-locking device. It is located inside the magazine tube to hold the spring in place, when removing the barrel. It also acts as a securing device for the magazine cap.
The cap has notches up inside the cap, and no detents on the bottom ring.
There isn't a detent ball on the barrel alignment ring like earlier Remington 870s so it needs the later style retainer.
If he fires a couple of rounds through it the cap will easily come off, as there isn’t anything to stop it.
Is the Brazing of the action bars normal, and am I correct about something missing in the magazine assembly?
Thank in advance for your help
