Once you find a good, reliable ammo to feed your 22 does anyone ever stray to try something different? Im content on the Cyclones, they work 100% in my 10/22 and my 715 Mossberg.

Is there a logical or good reason to try something different?

If it works for you, why change?

I like CCI SV (standard velocity). I have shot through about one and a half 5000 (yes 5000) round cases with very few duds (count on one hand). Work great in 10/22, Ruger MkI Pistol, S&W 422 pistol and my friends guns (buckmark, norinco m93, Ruger 22/45).

I buy them from Reliable gun for $239 per 5000rds, only a dollar more than the cheapo winchester at canadian tire.

i sampled a few types when i first got my mk iii. just ended up going with the cheapest ones that worked

22's are fussy devils when it comes to ammo....I want the most accurate for mine at a price that does not break the bank...My 10-22 and Mark III hunter pistol love blazers or CCI SV...

I shot CCI Stingers for years but they are expensive and a dirty round to shoot in a semi, I recently switched to the bulk blazer and have had great luck. I tryed the winchester and remimington stuff and I was getting at least 3 duds per box of 50.

For gopher ammo in my 10-22 i use what ever i get cheapest by the case, it is not fussy it will spit out whatever i feed it. I have been trying different target ammo in the 452 and 455 however. Haven`t setteled on one particular brand yet.

I was using my cyclones and ran out. My buddy had some walmart Winchetser stuff that he let me use. My 10/22 was not happy. FTF and FTE constatly. Needless to say I got fed up and left. These bullets worked 100% in his 10/22........................

As stated above, yes, they are very fussy devils.

I just aquired an old Lakefield Mossberg Mark 2. I started off buying a 100 Winchester Super X 40gr, then I bought a box of 500 Winchester Xpert HV`s and I find they are not as accurate. I`ve never had any missfires or jams with either...just find the super x`s are much better.

We shoot the cheapest we can buy and presently Blazer which is going for just under 20 for 500.

Have a friend that shoots some very expensive target ammo and yes it is very accurate however he shoot maybe 50 rounds a year and we shoot thousands so cost is important.

If your idea of shooting is grouping at 50 yards then buy expensive, otherwise why bother using expensive ammo as long as it functions in your gun.

since buying my first .22 a few years ago i have been fond of CCI Blasers.
ive owned 6 .22s since my first and they all loved that ammo.

my 10/22 has spit out over 15,000 Blasers with only 2 FTEs. im not the best at math but a 0.0133% failure rate is pretty good.

accuracy is awesome too.

My 64Bs hate the Winchester 555 stuff. It seems the bullet itself is a bit too long and they hang up often causing many FTLs. I seem to remember them eating many Blazer solids without complaint.

As above, my 10/22 REALLY doesn't like the Winnie. I've got some Remmy Game Loads and Vipers, gonna try them out Sunday. I've heard Remmy stuff is really dirty though.

I find it to be quite dirty ammo with alot of duds, sometimes several per box of 50. Both my 10/22s feed them reliably however (yellow jacket that is)

So, shot @600 rounds today, 400 Remmy Game loads and 200 rnds. Remmy Viper. We had 2 FT fires and 2 FT feeds. Through my 10/22 as well as my Cooey 750 there were no issues, the ammo shot very well, but holy DIRTY batman!! This stuff left a gross paste in the action of the Cooey. As its cheap, plentiful, and shoots well I'll keep shooting it, will just have to stop every 250 rnds. for a quick clean.
Cheers!!

My preferred ammo for my 10/22 was PMC Zappers, but I finally ran out of them this spring. As far as I know they have not been produced for the last 4 or 5 years. Now I am on the hunt for a new favorite.

Anyone try out Remy 22 Thunderbolt? It's not the usual 22 stuff I use but got such a smokin' deal on it that I couldn't refuse. I haven't tried it out yet...but thought I'd ask (good or bad)...thoughts?

**edit** seems reviews I can find on the 'net are a real mixed bag...but hey, if it doesn't jam or misfeed I'm ok with it.

I guess this thread would be a decent place to ask a question about .22 ammo?

So: I've been reading about "leading" being a problem with .22 (is it only .22s?). I know a number of .22 cartridges have bullets with "exposed" lead, but others have a copper jacket (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:.22_LR.jpg).

I'm curious why those copper jackets aren't more common? Is it just cost?

cheers,

I use American Eagle without any issues. We constantly shoot at 100 yards with the accuracy we expect and get. No need at all to spend any more than what I already do !
