My bad , read wrong. This one is restricted.
It's the right section , I just read your post wrong. I too would be all over a non-restricted acr if it were to be brought in as non-res with all factory parts. Ive heard horror stories of the Canadian dealer who had brought these in but never was able to get the rifles to run right with their own aftermarket nomn-res. 18.5 barrels or without a third party intervention and tons of gunsmithing.
thanks for the heads up on that. i almost got the last acr SFRC had but thot it may by too much off a pain getting the 556. NR barrel for it. It may have been good that I didnt then?
Out of three friends who had an ACR with the aftermarket NR barrel, all three had problems. All three were also mechanically-inclined, and thus able to troubleshoot, remedy, resolve and - in some instances - either manufacture or refine replacement parts where required.
I can't imagine this endeavour would be for the feint of heart, so I think one takes their chances and rolls the dice with the aftermarket barrels. At some point (anyone's guess) Bushmaster is supposed to release the ACR with a factory NR 18.5" barrel.
oh so im going to be waiting longer then i thought?
You have to have a lot of faith - *blind faith* - to take any of Bushmaster's release dates seriously. I've heard July-August in the US, so whether that proves to be realistic or not (or what that translates into for Canada) is really a WAG at this point.
The ACR is a great gun - and kudos for the sponsors who are brining them in. The aftermarket barrels are very much the "grey area", and I think it's a crap shoot. Some people haven't had any issues; others have had a $3,500 paperweight for the better part of a year. And there is zero warranty support from the vendor of the aftermarket barrels, so you are on your own.
If it were me, I'd wait for either a factory NR barrel or the ACR2. But that could very easily be 2013 territory, so...
thanks Blaxsun. ACR2 hey? lol Hurry up and wait i guess![]()

ohhh I like. that charging handle sure is different. makes me think of the kriss vector handle.
They went with a different barrel, removed the ratchet assembly, substituted a magnesium lower and made a few other modifications, so it only clocks in at something like 6.5lbs. What's not to like?![]()
were did you find this info?
On one of the military blogs (sorry, don't recall offhand). This is the Remington ACR - their military version. So it's probably more than wishful thinking they'll release a commercial version for us civvies...
