How's your recoil?

I was surfing youtube looking at whatever came up for the AR15, when I came across this video. Watch the slow-motion segments when he's shooting, the barrel barely moves. I don't really pay a lot of attention to recoil when I'm shooting, but my impression is that my rifle is bucking violently in my hands. I could be wrong.

I loaned my Tavor to a gentleman at the last service rifle match, and he gave it back to me saying it felt jumpy as hell.

I never noticed, but when I shot his hbar that was twice the weight with its rail system up front, it definitely had less recoil. Like the thing just didn't move much at all. I wouldn't want to keep his heavy beast shouldered for very long though, while with the Tavor I can sit one-handed and rest on target.

I've pulled my muzzle brake in favor of a SF flash hider since then. So it's likely even "worse" recoil. In my mind the .223 can never get that bad.

Its because this DVD, The art of the tactical carbine, is awesome and will teach great stance and shouldering of the rifle. So many people don't shoulder their rifles properly, I often see them with the center line of bore passing over the shoulder, chicken winged arm, monkey gripping the VFG and not rolling their shoulder into the rifle (LOP issues)

Anyways here's some dopeness:

Stance and hold will greatly affect the way you feel the recoil and muzzle jump.

Get someone to record or watch your shooting from the side and review. It may not be as bad as you imagine first off.

If it is, try different stances. Your lean in angle and head position effect your control. Depending I suppose on if you shoot shoulders square to target or old school angled out (shoulders more perpendicular to target). it's lean angle or foot position or both.

If it's still an issue you could adopt a push pull technique (tac shotgun) and push with either the strong hand or weak hand depending on what works. Try both. Some people get better results pulling with the weak hand...

A camera or an observer will help you figure out what is best.
