Hi Gunnutz!

Wondering if anyone here has any experience with these NEA 14" heavy profile barrels and wont mind answering a couple of questions:

I am curious if anyone knows of a forend that will work with them out of the box... Both the Remington factory forend and FAB defense forends I currently have will both need to be modified to work with the barrel, they bind on it when drawn back. Perhaps an ergo grip railed forend?!

Basicly... does anyone know of a forend I can get that wont bind on the barrels wider outside diameter?

Also, this might be an esoteric combination, but is anyone running a cadex 870 rail system with a 14" NEA barrel? curious if the larger diameter barrel will clear the inside of the rail system.

Cheers all!

I bought one late last year. I decided to mod the factory forearm as it would not affect function with the original barrel and would be easy to replace as lots of guys put tacticool stocks & foregrips on.

I had to take a fair amount of material off esp. at the back end of the foregrip.

I tried my 14" NEA with the Hogue Overmold stock and foregrip, I had to remove quite a bit of material to get it move back and forth smoothly.. after all that work the barrel didn't work with my wingmaster receiver/bolt. (Bolt won't lock up with the extra thick tolerances) try it on the police models only maybe... Although I don't have one to reference if the that'll be a better fit I'm assuming it will as maybe thats what it was designed to fit? I dunno..

OK cool, thanks... may i ask what type of receiver you were using and what kind of performance (function/reliability wise) you have seen form the weapon with the new barrel on it?

I dont like the sounds of that!

I guess i better experiment with this thing a bit!

Thanks for the heads up!

Mine works great. As mentioned previously, it required removal of a fair bit of material from the fore-end.

Same situation with DLASK barrels. They are much beefier than stock barrels, and required removal of some material from the foreend.

Yes, but they aren't misleadingly sold as "Remington heavy police profile". The Remington Police profile isn't any different from their regular barrels. NEA do add the caveat on their website that modification may be required to the forearm, kind of defies the whole direct replacement thing though.

Also notice they say it's not compatible with Wingmaster receivers. Very confusing, because as far as I'm aware they're the same receivers. The Wingmaster receives some extra attention and a much nicer finish, but it's still the same receiver. What about Police receivers? They're identical to Wingmasters, epsecially the blued models.

Oddly, it looks like they've increased the price on these clearance barrels, they use to be $189.

I thought I read something a while back that they were going to a lighter profile. Maybe the clearance barrels were the super heavy ones?

Yes, they were/are going to a lighter (regular) profile, they're even going to include a front sight. The website only has the old heavy barrels listed but the price has shot up $65.

I had two Wingmasters and a DA and I couldn't get any of them to function properly. So I sold one Wingmaster and traded the DA bought a 870P. It closes and locks and functions as it should. So the answer is yes the 870P has a slightly different receiver then the Wingmaste
