Norinco Np29 for Classic Division..

Shooting A's has nothing to do with speed but rather where you place your attention. You can shoot A's just as fast as you can shoot D's you just have to aim for the A zone. Most IPSC shooters just don't work on their accuracy fundamentals enough to be able to shoot A's at any speed and as a consequence must spend an inordinate amout of time aiming to try to get A's perpetuating the myth that you need to "slow down to shoot A's". You can really see the lack of fundamentals when steel makes an appearance on a stage. You will always hear someone complain about how small the steel is. An 8" plate is 2" wider than the a zone an only 3" shorter. A popper is huge compared to an A zone. The only way steel appears small is if you compare it to a whole target, which means you are just blasting at brown.
Work on your accuracy to the point where you can place all your shots in the A zone at any distance you may encounter in a match, in other words you should be able to keep all your shots in the a zone out to 50m. Learn to find and shoot the A zone, not the whole target. Lastly learn how to pull the trigger quickly without disturbing the sight picture.

See!!!!.......it's easy :D lol

Where have you been John boy. See Chris, John here is an A shooter using his Trojan 9MM shooting Standard Division and he is not the faster runner in the World by a long shot. He does remember to pump his shotgun though which is a step up on me when shooting 3 Gun.:D

Ahahahahaha! All right well I will keep at it with the Trojan in 9mm then. I just figured having the best time with a lot of Alphas, Charlies and Deltas would have did it for me last Sunday but it didn't. Maybe the few procedurals (10 points each! ouch!) did me in!

Plan on the Alphas Chris and take the odd Charlie. You will do OK.

Doesn't matter what you are shooting procedurals and mikes will kill you :)

Really where I think I have it over a lot of the guys I see is what is going on between the shooting. Mag changes and working the stage as efficently as possible makes a huge difference sometimes :)

Economy of motion really does matter in IPSC.

Great thread! Thread revival!

I got my BB earlier this summer and have been shooting my NP-29 exclusively in classic minor simply because its the only pistol I have!

But to affirm what others have said, I started off wanting to be fast but my accuracy was very bad. The last few matches and during practice, I'm working on shooting A's --- I've been told to get my points first, and the speed will come in time.
