cz vs norinco copies

I have a JW15a and a JW25a Norinco. I have handled and fired the CZ 452 rimfire and will say this much, the action on the JW25a is far nicer, and far more difficult to scope. The accuracy of the CZ with CCI SV's is a bit better than the Norincos, but I haven't tried a full length JW15a, although I can't see why it would be more accurate than the backpacker.

If I had to choose between one gun which would be for hunting or hiking and general outdoors work, it would be the JW15 backpacker simply because the stock is synthetic, it's doesn't make sound, it's easy to take down and the gun is small and accurate. If I didn't go in the woods much and mostly wanted a range gun, it would be the CZ for sure.

Did you find your JW25 trigger was way better then the backpacker?

The JW25a is superior in every aspect it seems, I'll never sell that gun. The backpacker I plan on selling with my AR7 and 10/22 ss for a 10/22 takedown.

No other rifle that I have encountered cycles so fast and smooth as the JW25a, it's a lot like an Enfield.

When Marstar brings more of these guns in, I highly recommend you folks jump on them even if they're $300.00 each

Buy the CZ, they are light-years ahead of the Norinco crap... if you want to go cheaper, consider a Zastava instead... they are quite nice rifles and my two can shoot! I have a Z5 in LR and WMR.

I am of the opinion that CZ made a big mistake by replacing the thread on barrel system with a removable barrel system, I would never buy the 455 with the interchangeable barrel option, it makes no sense at all.

The most accurate .22lr I've ever shot was a slip-fit and pin barrel (Annie 54 action), the 455 attachment is WAY more secure then that system.
You can change both headspace and chamber depth on the 455 barrel (with a lathe of course) without any change to the ejector cut-out. You can also swap to one of the excellent Lilja barrels if you feel the need for a $400 tube, but I suspect the aftermarket will flesh-out on those eventually.

If you look at the action bolt spacing on the 452 american/453 vs. the 455 you will see they are in a much more logical position (front and rear of the action). So far it seems the 455 have been easier to get shooting consistently.

Only real downside with the 455 is they dropped the small lug on the bottom of the bolt, which made questionable contact unless you had a smith lap them both in anyways.

Please do let me know first when you let that backpacker and AR7 go and for how much!

I would not call it a slip fit, the 54 action has a very tight barrel to action fit on a taper. In order to remove the barrel from the 54 action, one needs to insert a tight fitting steel dowel in the action and use a good size hammer to drive out the barrel, usually with a single blow.
There is some info on the procedure here.
