Going to put together a 10/22 sniper style rifle.
Would like to know what the 10/22 builders would like to recommend as far as stocks barrels and mods.
I am not interested in the M16 assault style more like an M40 or M82 style.
I appreciate your input.
 
I'm a Fudd. I have an 8 year old that asks of every rifle (and sometimes shotguns...)

..No honey, it's only a sniper rifle if a sniper is shooting it!

There is/are no end of modifications available to your 10/22. I don't touch 'em anymore, but would suggest you "test drive" your rifle in a big way. Find what you'd like to improve on it. Triggers, extractors, barrels, funky stocks, etc...they are all available for these rifles. Improve what you find deficient after a few hundred (thousand?) rounds.

It's a very popular thing to do, with no shortage of things to buy for it.
 
If I had a 10/22 Id be looking at a Boyds tacticool or better an SS evo stock, a target barrel from one of the above dealers, not the bull barrels you get at bass pro or wholesale. Maybe an aftermarket trigger.
However the amount you'd be spending might add up to more than a new savage or cz target rifle.
But the choice is up to you!

I think it's really a personal style thing.

Here is how i went (major items):
- Green Mountain 19" Heavy Taper Sporter Barrel
- Boyds SS Evolution Stock (Nutmeg)
- Brimstone Gunsmithing Tier 1 Trigger Job (2.5 lbs, Rimfire Technologies Full Width Trigger, Single Stage)
- Might look at having the bolt tweaked as well.
- I'm also waiting for a 15 MOA scope base in the mail.

Keeping in mind I'm still QUITE a newbie, here's my last testing session results with CCI Standard Velocity in Calm conditions at 100m from a Benchrest:

Wow nice set-up. How long did it take to get your boyds stock? I've heard some people have to wait 3 months for there stocks. Also if you don't mind me asking, how much have you spent on your set-up? I really like it, very clean looking!

That used to be the case... but the State Department shut down the exporting of Tacticool stocks (all others are still fine to ship)... it seems they didn't like the name "Tacticool"... how stupid is that!?!?!? This fact is listed on the Boyd's website.

Boyd's stocks are drop in fit... you do not need a gunsmith... I have dozens of Boyd's stocks... they are an excellent product. If the stock is available at the time of ordering, you will have it inside of two weeks... if it is out-of-stock, then you will have to wait until the next production run, which is usually 3-6 weeks, depending on the popularity of that particular model.

I have no experience with them but like the look of them very much. I've never had my 10/22 apart so really have no idea what's involved.
 
doesnt get any simpler. remove single flat head scew form the bottom just in front of mag well. slide safety half way between safe. pull reciever and barrel upward as one piece. if you have a barrel band model of course you will need to remove that. be carefull as you pull it out as some of the pins in the reciever may just fall out, especially the one for the mag release.

Hogue Overmolded stock, Green Mountain 20" bull target barrel, Mueller APT 4X14 44mm scope, cheap Winchester (Walmart) bipod. GM makes thinner target/sporter barrels too in different lengths. The 20 incher is heavy but steady for bench shooting.

This is a sniper'ish build that I done. Like Hoyt mentioned, you cannot get the Tacticool line of Boyds stocks here in Canuckistan anymore.
