It is funny how,it is not always the most expensive rig that catch your interest, i was lokking at my little bugger and said to myself, i may used it as a shotgun once in a while for that fat grouse, but maily i will reload some P+ of 45 Colt to plink around at our lakehouse, so a bead is not what the most accurate sight, so went tru my stuff and came up with what i think is a brillant idea, will let the pictures speak by themselves... Interesting - I've got the same gun and was thinking about having it drilled and tapped for a small rail so I can mount different sights, scopes, etc. to try.
Like you, the bead is OK for the 410 but I get minute of boulder only with the 45 LC.
 
Going to the range for a few Nemesis pleasures and at the same time i will zero the Sparc and see what grouping i am getting offhand with my little bugger and the P-35 will tag along to see at what speed i am pushing those out of that 20 inch tube... JP.

Just back from the range, and i've got stellars news, this little bugger is the real deal, got to shoot 50 rounds of 45 Colt at various distances all offhand and 5 pieces of 410 shot #6.. For the 410 with the choke it pattern like a regular 410, will be very effective for grouse and bunny, the big surprise come from the 45 Colt, at 50 yards offhand it shot everything after zeroing my Spark within 2 to 2.5 inch, i am amaze this thing should be an easy 80-85 metres rifle for deer, now another thing, over the Oehler those were running at an average of 1280 fps @ 10 feet, after the energy maths it come up to 910 pounds @ the muzzle, should be 700 pounds left at 90 metres, a little bit more that i figured, overall the best 264.00 dollars i spent this week... JP.

Where did you buy one of these? I have been trying to get one for years. I had one on order from WSS for 2 years and then they sold it on me without letting me know it was in. :mad: I was so pissed.

Curious if the .410 slugs would give any better performance then the .45 colt. I have no experience with either but that may soon change.

I dont think the 410 slugs could even get close to the 45 Colt, this one is Rem regular load, i am gone work out a P+ to get near 1400-1450 fps, it's been a while since i mold my own, still got 2 five gallons of wheel weights in the shed... JP.:cheers:

I'm shocked the accuracy is that good with the 45. If you do some digging you'll come across an interesting wildcat called - I believe - the 450 Mongo. It is a 9.3x74 opened up to take a 45 cal bullet. Guy's are using it in the 45-410 TC Contenders to compensate for the huge freebore or "jump" that the 45 Colt experiences before it makes it to the rifling.

Of course, this is with TC Contenders that have a rifled barrel. I don't know if your gun is a smoothbore or not.
 
Personally I'd head to the local gunstore and pic up the Weaver 82 (48082) $10 scope mount and set the red dot closer to ones eye.

Hmmm other H&R's come drilled and tapped for the mount but with just little blind screws in the holes.

Perhaps they don't do this in factory with this type?

Either way that's the mount one needs for the H&R's

There was nowhere else to attach a mount that prove quite sturdy, after 55 shots.... the zero was still intact an the target aquisition is super easy... JP.
 
The recoil is so low on that combo, i guess if not drop or hit, it will never lose it's zero... JP.
