I am in the process of starting my Longbranch #4MkI* build/rebuild.
I have a question for the gurus on here, with regards to the buttstock, I have the proper Longbranch buttstock
with the buttstock bolt and lock-washer, I don't have the flat washer that goes underneath the lock one. Does
anyone know where I can get one of them or a modern replacement? I checked a few places out online and they
don't even list the flat washer.

...it's pretty rare that they're in there. I'm pretty much used to just the bolt and lock washer.

I made one up from a standard stock washer this past winter. Take the lock washer down to the hdware store and you can match it to find one which is dimensionally close and then re-work as nec.

If you do go with the lock washer alone, make sure you fit the buttstock with the forend removed so that you can check for any protrusion of the stock bolt beyond the face of the butt socket. The end of the stock bolt must be below flush with the face of the butt socket. If not it will contact the rear of the forend with a high probability of cracking the wood here- a real PITA for an accurate shooter.

Hello sir. Just popped one out and here are the measurements. OD .776 ID is .471 and thickness is .110 Remember your working with wood so it doesn't have to be right on. But remember the thicker it is the better it resists bending

The flat washer is required to prevent the lock washer from chewing up the wood.....there's not a lot of bearing area at this location in the bolt way. As in any othewr venfield part it's a special.....you could make something up if you have the equipment. Jim's dimensions are close to mine (LB issues part) Thickness .0905" OD .776 and ID .466".....plain steel, no finish.

John...I'll put one in the mail tommorrow so you'll have the correct part.

...would that thickness be more like .0905"? .905 is almost an inch?

I've only seen them missing in a few new, unissued, never installed, or whatever you call them, buttstocks.

Oh, and: Ron, you are a gentleman.
