That appears to be a Flash Supressor not a brake.

Since we don't have any comparison of what brake reduces felt recoil the best I suppose the ideal one would be the one that does the job for the least money.
Pretty hard to beat the Brownells M1A MUZZLE BRAKE/STABILIZER kit.
Since it comes with proper castle nut pliers for $89 it should probably be your first one.

Can not export. I have tried. Today... :(

I have an SEI US Coast Guard brake that is supposed to eliminate muzzle rise by 100% and recoil by about 30%.

We'll know for sure at the clinic next week...

I'm expecting a USGI muzzle break tomorrow in the mail. I hope to be able to go to that clinic and test it out there as well - all depends on work but it sure would be the best birthday present to myself EVER!
I'll post photos for sure

I've got a dlask A6 brake on a chopmod shorty and a Smith Coast Guard on another shorty. Maybe we can set up the video camera for some slow motion footage of the various brakes

Does braking/ comping effect the cycling at all in the m14?
I know some devices can increase back pressure/dwell time on their AR counterparts, wondering if this can have any adverse reaction on the rifle?
Just wondering, please don't flame. haha.

M-14 cycling is usually not adversely effected by different flash hiders or muzzle brakes with standard length barrels, however 18, or 16 inch barreled M-14's can be very sensitive to muzzle devises.
Barrel port size, gas cylinder position, piston timing, recoil springs and headspace become much more important as barrels get shorter.

So we got just the shipment from SEI today. Scope mount, M80HT cylinder, and SEI coast guard brake. We will start shipping out to people who place the pre-order as well.

M14.ca will be announcing a new two port brake and adjustable front sight. The adjustable front sight will be compatible for use with our CASM GEN II scope mount. No ETA as yet but hopefully before Summer is out. Thank-you.
