I will be receiving my restricted endorsement soon and am trying to figure out what to get.

I would like something in 7.62 x 51 but know nothing of what is out there for semi auto black rifles, what are options or dealers I can look at various models???

No preferences at all yet just want to see what's available.

First question: how much CAN you spend?
Second. : What do you want to do with it?

After that the search function will yeld a few threads of this nature with the same CGNers givin their same choices. :D

I have an Armalite AR10 and it shoots just as well as an LMT or Knigts Armament but at a fraction of the cost.

There are non-restricted black type rifles out there as well: RFB, FNAR, Valmet Hunter and M78, M1A

I can spend way more than I probably should.

Just want to shoot it!!! It may on very rare occasion see a hunt but doubtful, have other tools for that.

You could allways look at the Rob Arms XCR-M, . I think mine will be coming out to the deer woods with me this fall. Forget about the Rem R25 if you plan on doing any type of hunting with it, RESTRICTED

Pretty much everything that's direct impingement is going to be more accurate.
If you're after accuracy, there's really only the ar based 308's.

At the lower end there's the dpms', they can be quite accurate, but don't have the quality that the next couple choices do. They're more of a consumer grade quality level.

The lmt mws is very accurate, sub moa for most with the chrome lined barrel and a blind monkey could shoot sub moa groups with the stainless barrel.
Very high quality, comparable to the Kac sr25, but at half the price.
It's downside is that it's heavy.

The Kac sr25 is considered the rolls royce of 308 black rifles. Excellent accuracy, quality, soft recoiling, and reasonably lightweight (for a 308 ar).

There are of course xcr-m's, m14's, rfb's, and the like, but personally if I'm spending the extra money on a larger caliber ammunition like 308, I want consistant 1 moa or less.
Only the ar's provide that level of performance regularly.

FNAR, 1moa semi auto non restricted. Bit of a tacticool Fudd gun, but I like mine.

I didn't have too much interest in the FNAR until I had a chance to shoulder one in the store this week (on the U.S. side). I found it very comfortable. I liked it, and being non-restricted is bonus.

After putting a little time behind the HKMR308 I would say that rifle is on another level compared to most if not all 308 rifles now, It will last longer and out perform most AR10 types in a majority of areas. The only thing that I would consider above or similar might be the KAC line. But I would bet that the HK308 line will last longer than the SR25 line at least for barrel life overall..
