I have an M305 and an M14. The 305 needs a barrel index and the M14 might need some shims.

Unfortunately, Hungry's clinics are too far away from me and the "package" costs as much as the gun.

Is there a gunsmith that will do just the basics (headspace check, shims, barrel index)?

Absolutely no reason why you cant do the shims yourself, it might not even need shims, just 180 the locking ring....you'll be surprised....I was.

You could get the adjustable lock from Dlask arms if you don't want to make a shim it just screws on then you just bolt it down.

I did this at a hungry clinic. I was surprised. Went from a 9 oclock to a 6:30 position by just doing a flip. Kind of makes one wonder why the didn't do that when they put the rifle together the first time :) Mine could probably still use 1 shim but its tight enough!

I'm swinging through MB on my way back home on 03 or 04 Aug thereabouts.... Cannot do the index thing since I don't have my workbench in my Rav4, but we can shim your gas system. PM me...

Heading the Calgary today and then getting ready for the 07 Jul Saturday M14 Clinic at TSE (board sponsor).

Cheers,
Barney

I got my shims from Brownells, they are made by Fulton Armoury. It's easy, if your flashider is welded on, just unscrew your gas lock, move back the cylinder, then cut the shim on an angle, install and assemble in reverse order. I replaced my FH with a SAI so I had to dremel off the welded Norc FH.

norinco m305 short stroking????????????

HELP! i took my m14 apart a few times to clean it and the last time i put it all back together i was spinning the gas lock thingy around and not really thinking it was a big deal. so i went shooting and what do you know,, single shot not grabbing up the next round!??wtf? but its ejecting the rounds and going click when i pull the trigger with no round in it? so i look online last night for hours and decide its this short stroking problem so i take it apart and what do ya know... the gas lock goes past where it should be tight and tightens like a sumna##### almost directly oposite where it should be, so i back it off and tighten the gas plug on good in hopes it will hold it there and keep the ports aligned. next mornin i go out and shoot it and its cycling rounds like normal?? i only fired 1 full mag and was like.. hmm its working but i thinks i might need shims? anyone else get this problem?? i would love to attend the clinic but im in butt #### saskatchewan,, if hungry did a clinic in saskatoon it would be great!
