9.3x62 Mauser

Much, much harder. I believe Remington and Hornady have (or are going to) start production, but until now only Norma was "available". On the rare occasion you would also find RWS, but I think I have only ever seen one box. Then there is Sellier & Bellot, too.

Trade-ex does have it in stock every once in awhile, so you could just order a couple of boxes through them.

own and use both calibers, both are custom build mauser bolt action rifles. I reload and have no problem to find brass or bullets for the 9.3x62, lately I bought 3 cavities .267" N.O.E. bullet mold 280grain gas check for the 9.3, I cast some bollits, .375 gas check work fine but did not have a chance to test firing yet.

Wholesale often has Remington Corelokt ammo in stock. Almost any well stocked retailer will have component bullets and TradeEx has brass, bullets and ammo. As previously mentioned you can reform 30-06 brass with ease.

You won't find the ammo at Canadian Tire but it's far from difficult to find.

Hello I'm having a hard time deciding but how easy is this cartridge to find in Canada compare to the 338 win mag? Thanks.

Factory loaded ammo is available but tends to be a bit pricey in most loadings. However,if handloading is an option this caliber is a breeze to load and components are relatively easy to source.Tradex, for example usually has a good selection on hand and their service is excellent.

last fall every gun shop i went to in prince george had several boxes of 9.3x62 , one had several brands with various weights of bullets .

i've found it easier to find 9.3x62 than 454 casull ( possibly because the 454 sells out quickly )

price wise a box of 20 went from around 40.00 to 80.00

all it takes is some planning ahead , and if you don't reload , keep a decent supply of ammo on hand .

if you do reload , components are easily available , you just might have to wait a week or 2 for items to ship in .

I don't know what the situation is like in Sask, but here in central ontario it's surprisingly easy to find 9.3 ammo and components. Ellwood Epps usually has Sellier & Bellot, Remington and had some RWS last time I was there. Tradex usually has the best prices. You can get Lapua brass from Hirsch Precision. The Remington "core-loct" is really just Hornady Spire pt. btw.

For me, the 9.3x62 is so much more comfortable to shoot in a light rifle than .338WM is.
I handload, have had no problem finding components so far.
Nothing to add here regarding factory ammo, as I'm too frugal and fussy to ever buy any.

The FN/Husqvarna is very accurate, and a joy to carry and shoot. Easy as well to load this cartridge to some impressive power .... without that sharp slappy recoil that the few .338's I've tryed all had.

Loaded Hornady 9.3X62 factory ammo, as well a plenty of components are available at The Sportslodge here in Whitehorse.

And, vviking is right when he says the 9.3 is much easier to handle than the 338 Mag.

I have used 9.3X62 rifles for more than 30 years, and killed many tons, literally, of big game with the cartridge. If you can handle a light 308 or 30-06, you won't have any trouble with an eight pound 9.3, however the difference in performance on big game is certainly significant! :)
