Hi guys,

I would like to know if a Ruger 10/22 CHARGER barrel can fit in my regular Ruger 10/22 carbine receiver ? (building a backpacking rifle, and they look less pricy and short .. around 8" for my futur shorty)

lets say its working... Not knowing about "sub-sonic" will one of these GM do the trick for me ?

Thank you for your info!

That's kind of an interesting question. If you bought a 10/22 and a charger and swapped the barrels on them presumably they'd still retain their original status. The stock on the 10/22 would probably keep the OAL above Restricted, and even with an 18.5" barrel the Charger would still be a pistol. Effectively you'd have the same thing as if you'd just swapped stocks, but legally reversed. Crazy laws.

It is the same receiver on the rifle and pistol.

So yes it will fit.

I recommend a 11 or 12" barrel from Jerry at mystic precision. By far the best aftermarket barrel available in Canada!

I have tried almost every barrel available and Jerry's McGowan barrels are the cheapest, and best shooting!

Cheers!

i was on the mystic site earlier.. from what i see in the shortest bull available..

CM Smooth barrel in HB or Tactical contour is $150. Add muzzle thread $45. Add Fluting $45
SS Smooth barrel in HB or Tactical contour is $175. Add muzzle thread $45. Add Fluting $45

the price is higher than a Dlask 8" which is already threaded..
glad to know about the charger barrel.. even tho i didn't shop in canada yet for charger barrel availability and/or usa store who ship to canada

not sure the last time you where on the Dlask site but just for your knowledge they have come down from the $179. to $159 so really they are less expensive considering they are already threaded. and they shoot very well, Ive had 2 of them, just sold one on the EE

Lol. Your previous post says you checked mystics site with no mention of being dlasks site this morning. Just that it was cheaper. :D

But yea it will work. Check out the other thread that G37 made on his 8" build

oh dont worry, i already follow that G37 thread.. its exactly what i had in mind that started my own project.. (that thread and the fact that i backpacked a regular 10/22 in the wild last weekend and it was longer than my ULA backpack and got caught in every trees i was passing.. the joy of carrying something too long off trails)

My problem is: i like the stock and i would also like to know if there are other stock options that is around 27 over all length or am I stuck with ordering an SS evolution too. for the barrel.. Dlask seem like the way to go for the barrel.

Ever thought of maybe finding a "Take Down" model? I haven't seen any around myself but I'm sure they'd make a nice rifle with a new extractor and trigger job.
