What to buy - Kel Tec su-16f or Benelli MR1

I'd try them out first.
The su16 is a little bit off with the factory stock imo. It's not bad, but it seems to me the ar15 style stock would shoulder much better.
The MR1 looks like it has weird ergonomics as well, I'd want to play with one before buying.

The Mr-1 is a rifle of great precision and absolutely reliable, with a pet load you are accurate to an easy 300 meters, mine with 77 gr Scenar will shoot groups from 2.5 to 3.5 inch all the time, at 100 metres it is a .5 MOA rifle even with WWB 45 gr, cant speak for the su-16... JP.

I love my MR1, it's super reliable, soft shooting, and very accurate even with factory pills. I would definitely suggest you handle both and see what you want. Benelli fit and finish is worlds above keltec.

Had both, very very different rifles.
But in terms of quality, the benelli wins hands down, although its ergonomics are a bit odd and it weighs a ton.
The su is super lightweight, and reliable but it feels like a glorified nerf gun.

The SU-16 can fold up quite compact, but the stock sights are not so great and to long a scope cause issues with folding coming from an owner. I would buy the MR-1 if the wallet allows, but if discreet carry and/or budget are required then the SU-16 is the cheapest NR semi in .223
IMO the MR-1 has, most likely, some of the worst egonomics of any rifle I've shouldered.
And its ugly as sin because of it.
Some have had great success (Caramel) with theirs, and others have had only issues with theirs.
It'll come down to which one will fit you best - do not buy it without handling the MR-1 in person or it may just cost you a shipping back to the dealer !

The keltec is hands down a disappointment in my opinion. $800, plus another $300 in "upgrades" just to make it look cool, but still shoot like garbage.
I have to agree. This question should really be mini14 vs MR1, as, at least you Know what to expect, and then you have a somewhat level playing field. AR magazine well however gives the nod to the MR1

I think more people would buy the MR1 if they sort of looked like this and used a slightly taller stock. This is just a quick mock up I did on paint, I'd like to find a spare hand guard so I can remove the front sight.

Ive seen an MR1 for sale that looked like that. I know I wasnt real impressed with Kel Tec's regular stock.
I would be interested in another brand as long as its NR so that I can take it out to my brother in laws farm for coyotes. But I also want to use it for 3 gun shooting.
I believe caramel tested the pencil barrel, to see where the limits lie.
And between the two, yup, its hands down MR1
Neither of these are accuracy rifles. Both are bush/ranch guns.
Granted the MR1 has a rotating lug design that locks into the barrel extension (As does the Kel-Tec, AR15 and a bunch of other rifles). But it also has a shotgun gas piston system. That along with a Chrome lined barrel. If you're expecting .5 moa from this rifle then don't. A realistic expectation would be 1.5 moa to 2.5 moa. 1 moa possible with luck and reloads. Also it's a 1:9 twist rate.
The build is a lot nicer on the MR1 over the Kel-Tec. The RFB and KSG are the only Kel-tec products that interest me. These two firearms are the only two that seem to be decent quality.
Mini14 Target rifle with a trigger job should out shoot the MR1. Especially if you get the adjustable gas block. Not as tactical since it doesn't take AR mags and doesn't come with a pistol grip. But it will shoot. Also it's sub $1000. The ergonomics on the Mini14 target are actually better than the MR1 even though they are very dated. That being said the MR1 has a higher build quality/finish than the Mini14. Although the clunky stainless steel target model will last forever.
Other options with the mini are the new ones with an acustrut and pistol grip stock. This would work ok as well.
Personally if using this rifle for a bunch of things such as coyotes and 3 gun, then I'd save up and get something higher end.
