If anyone is looking for a spotting scope, Canadian tire has the Bushnell on sale for $200 from $300 regular - 33% off. I haven't used it yet, but the reviews on Amazon, and from a couple other websites specializing in optics are quite good, even at full price.

best thing about the 33% off Bushnell - Canadian Tire is still making money on the sale price so you have to ask yourself, how much is it really worth? for your $100 value you might as well buy an NCSTAR, then at least you got what you paid for and still have money for ammo.

Has anybody got one of theses? I understand that for this money the quality is on the low side. But for doing shooting out to 500 yards do you think it would be ok?

If your intent is to be able to see bullet holes at 500 yards with that scope, you had better be shooting a very large caliber. It takes a very good scope to see bullet holes at 500 yards under most conditions. Even. 22 caliber holes at 300 yards in cloudy conditions takes a good scope.

With all due respect, 30+ reviews on Amazon, and their regular price of $330 (priced at $290 right now, $287 - refurbished, $210 used) tell me you're probably wrong.

If you want a $1000 scope, this isn't it. If you want a scope that has night vision, camera attachments and can see through concrete, this isn't it. If you're looking for a decent entry level scope at a good price, then this could be it.

For the record, I checked with Canadian Tire and the model that they're selling is in fact the 782065 model. Feel free to compare prices, I couldn't find this model anywhere else for a better price.

Almost every review mentioned good scope for the price. The simple fact is that even though that scope is good compared to other scopes in that price range, you won't find what many of us would call a good scope for that price.

Ergo my use of the phrase "decent entry level scope at a good price"

I may be wrong, but I'm sure that not everyone is prepared to pay the price for what the many of you consider to be a good scope.

For around the $400 mark you could get a much better scope in a Vortex. For $75 I'll sell you a used Tasco that will likely outperform the new bushnell. What I am telling you about Bushnell is this, and that goes for any of their scopes. A small dealer wants to sell Bushnell and the price the pay is nearly what suggested retail is. A big company wants to sell Bushnell and they can buy a 1000 units. They pay way less per unit, can put the scope on sale and look like a hero. Fact is the scope is supposed to have a suggested retail but if there is 60% mark up in the retail price for one dealer and 10 or 15% for another, some one is getting screwed = you the customer or the small dealer. Not all manufacturers or distributors work like this, but Bushnell does.

Of course most manufacturers work like this, it's economics. And most people are only too happy to take advantage, shopping at outlet stores or places like Costco, or Canadian Tire that have purchasing power.

Maybe Vortex is a better scope that you can get for around $400, and maybe you do have a comparable Tasco that one person can buy used, that's great. I don't work for Canadian Tire or Bushnell, and I could really care less what people do with the information. My only intention was to point something out, community-related, that some folks might be interested in.
