2011 NWT Wood Bison***Update***Mount is on the wall in Post 67

Just picked my bison up from the taxidermist. I have to say that Dean at Robertson's Artworks in Yellowknife did an outstanding job. the pics are from my iPod do they suck a bit and don't do the mount justice. I'm waiting for Eugene to email me the good ones.

Nice! Worked near the Wood Buffalo National park last year, but didn't get to see any of those marvelous creatures.

I've hunted west of there quite a few times, sometimes the bison get back in the bush where they are very difficult to get to. Of course, other times, the damned things are blocking the road. Used to be a decent sized herd in the Caribou Mountains area. - dan

Garden River side (west)?

It's a small world, I've been back and forth to Fox Lake and Garden River from High Level / Fort Vermilion quite a bit. Hunting partners got a tag for Zama bison last year and we went there, but otherwise would be hunting west of the park. You get many Bison there? Caribou Mountains is a wildland park these days, no hunting, so you're confined to south of the Caribou Mountains and west of the park.

Last time I was up there (not for hunting)they were aggressively logging south of the Caribou Mountains and west of the park. Pushes the herd further away I would think. Pretty much the only game in town though for general bison I think. Been a while for me though, so perhaps I'm not up to date with the latest regs and zoning. - dan
