hey all

picked up a new 858, rhino-lined the stock and grips. Love it! shoots so nice.

one problem though, after about the first 40 rounds of czech corrosive, I had a few light strikes about 2-3 rounds apart mid-mag.

after i shot it cycled and fed properly, trigger cocked, but then *click*, no bang. cycled manually, shot a couple more, then *click* again. light pin divot on primer. did this from a couple different mags.

the rest of the time it shot great though. any ideas / anyone ever run across this?

when i got it i stripped it, cleaned it, oiled it, everything seemed to be moving really smoothly

thanks, I wasn't sure, I thought with the gremlin there was no click at all, but i think the trigger is engaging as the striker still hits the pin when i pull it. I'll look at the cures, I was really hoping to not hack this one up at all, as I did enough of that to my sks :p

Before you start cutting 9mm casings and shoving springs in your gun I would recommend that you take it back to the range and try shooting it without riding the trigger. Squeeze and release, make sure you're not holding the trigger down too long.
If you take the dust cover off and move the bolt back and forth while working the trigger you will see what I mean.

Had this problem myself at first, once I realized this is hasn't happened again.
Also met a guy at the range that was having issues as well. I could make his gun do it nearly every time if I held down the trigger too long. Got him to stop riding the trigger and he fired off another 100 or so rounds without issue.

Can't guarantee it but it's worth trying before letting Bubba loose on it.

the tabbed bolt carrier is the one you want it ensures the disconnect activates allowing the sear to grab the striker. making the rifle function the way it should. and that everytime you pull the trigger it goes bang. the brass shim/washers are for another problem where you get too much play in the sear/trigger interfaces and they "miss" causing dead trigger. you know right away if you have this problem by seeing if you can slide the sear over enough to "miss" the trigger bars or whatever they are. it is still a very awesome rifle. and never had this problem before it was made for semi auto only function.

Yep, the ABSOLUTE ONLY cure to the gremlin is the tabbed bolt carrier. Relatively cheap and 100% failure proof.

Don't bother with springs, filings, extra bolts and washers...They don't address the problem 100% and you're just wasting your time.

The only fix that approaches the issue from an engineering perspective is the tab.

Where can a guy get the tabbed bolt carrier?

Thanks all, I checked out the whole gremlin fix thread, and found that I had a couple problems. I did the sear shim trick as it was a bit loose, but I instead used the little aluminum loop that holds the tab onto a pop can, just spin the tab around 180 after opening and a quick jerk pops it all off in one go.

I like to rapid fire, and I see that this is what really causes the problem in my case, I'll have to do a little weld job on my bolt to really fix it. Yay project!
