I Hate Glocks!

There are some that come close. If you compare all the ups to the downs between brands, Glock is a clear winner. This of course is applicable if your intended purpose is that for which it was designed for.

I really like my Steyr M9-A1. It's everything that the Glock had the potential to be (at least for me, anyway). Excellent grip, reliable - and great to shoot. And I don't even mind the triangle sights.
The Steyr is a wannabe Glock, like the XD, M&P, SIGMA, Caracal, Kahr Arms, Walther P99, taurus 24/7, Ruger SR9, Beretta BU9 to name the more popular attempts. The triangle sights and the excessive amount of manual safeties are two of the worst features.

Well, respectfully I have to disagree. Not everyone likes the factory Glock sights, either (and both are easily replaceable). As for the "excessive" amount of safeties, either you've handled a pre-2004 model or you're referencing Wikipedia - because aside from the tiny and unobtrusive manual safety (that's easy to leave in the "F" position) the standard safety is basically the same as on the Glock.
Grip angle is better, textures are better, ergonomics, weight and balance are all better. I owned 6 different Glocks in different calibers, and it wasn't until I tried the Steyr M9-A1 that I found the ideal handgun. That isn't to say that Glock doesn't make a pretty good gun. But in the end it just wasn't for me. My wife also used to shoot a Glock and she found the HK P2000 to be much more comfortable and preferable to shoot.
Just saying the Glock isn't for everyone...

All in all - Glock shoots quite well if you take your time and have VERY good trigger control.
I shot a few - crappy grip, ####ty trigger, too much recoil flip, too fat sights...
But, if you can afford 3+ seconds per shot and know what trigger-control is - you may be able to shoot well ... LOL

The trigger is actually not bad. You don't need "VERY good" trigger control, you just have to know how to work a trigger, doesn't matter if you're shooting a SIG or a Glock.
Glock's are actually a whole lot easier when teaching a new shooter then a SIG.
I agree, the stock Glock sights are junk, and sights are easily replaced. As for model, you're likely right, the one I shot and played with had several safeties and was a mechanical abortion. I haven't had a chance to handle a newer production model.
You clearly haven't mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship. Have a view of the video below and tell me if the trigger is slowing the shooter down. In addition, Glock has a very low bore axis which makes muzzle flip nearly non existent. Any "excessive" flip is a direct result of poor form/shooter.

If you have a hard time with the Glock trigger, frankly, your trigger control blows.
There are a ton of guys who shoot sub-6 second FAST drills with Glocks...I have done it myself with full-tilt 10mm loads, from concealment.
If you need time to work a trigger on a Glock, the problem is not the Glock.
Great VID, but truth to be told, I have tighter groups with my Glock 17/19/21 (Gen4's) than I do with my M&P9 PRO, and a few 1911's. I SERIOUSLY want to hate them, and shoot something else better, but keep going back to the fugly Glocks.........
I have used / had a lot of pistols over the years, HK's, Sigs, Browning, Springfield, Glocks, Colt, Beretta etc etc. I 've run some of them on courses, fielded some of them, carried some of them them on various duties and shot them for pleasure on the range.
To date my least favourite remains *GASP* the Glock. I think the biggest disappointment is that it DID NOT meet the hype. Maybe my expectations were too high from all the Kool-Aid and what not???
I found the glock to be the least comfortable with perhaps the worst factory sights I have ever seen (except maybe the S&W 469). The trigger was nothing special either. Sure it worked but so do all the other handguns and believe me they have seen a lot more use simply because they fit / feel so much better (to me at least). I have an XD that has seen over 17K rounds and remains oem. (BTW there are no recommendations from springfield to replace springs / parts every 5K like some other manufacturer).
To date the most comfortable gun I have shot was believe it or not a P99. While I have no desire to own one it is undoubtedly the most comfortable and the XD's a close second.
I find it funny how the Glock lovers always SEEM to refuse to admit there may actually be better out there ( Was I supposed to get a "promote a Glock" contract to sign when I purchased one? Maybe the dealer forgot to include it?) meanwhile the detractors always SEEM to point out personal experience from trying other makes/ modles and finding *ANOTHER GASP* there are other good guns out there.
Now things are not always as they seem and I am willing to conceede to that but geez.. if you love your glock that's fine but FFS it does not mean we all have to love glock!!!!

If looks are a concern you've missed the point.
Changing springs is a general rule for all firearms. Cycling them wears them out and they are a wearing part. That being said, Glock has a G19 in Europe that has seen over 300,000 rounds on original parts, so its not entirely necessary to change springs in a Glock either. In addition, no one said their Glock would run forever without regular maintenance, just that when they're maintained they will run nearly forever.
As for comfort. A firearm should be comforting not comfortable. As an individual who uses one for a living and banks their life on it, you'd think this would be common knowledge.
As for the P99. Again, another Glock wannabe gun with piss poor quality and design. Do tell, how the f*ck does someone access that stupid slide mounted decocker without completely compromising their firing grip or using their support hand? And what's with the "set" trigger? So now we have the "need" to half depress the trigger to set it up for that short and sweet SA type pull? Sounds safe.. The P99 is exactly the evidence needed to keep down syndrome people out of the work force..

Only partially true. Few manufacturers INSIST it be done at regular intervals like Glock does. Unnecessary marketing me thinks... maybe to perpetuate the run forever myth?

BINGO! There it is... the ever predictable POG comment comes out again.. in just about every thread where someone does not share TDC's point of view he feebly tries to degrade / belittle. What is truly known by "an individual who uses one for a living" is that if the firearm is not comfortable then the ability to shoot it well will be diminished. The full potential will never be obtained with that firearm because the individual will not frequent the range as often as they should with that firearm to truly become proficient with it. That is not only common knowledge but fact. How well can you *really* shoot with a poor cheek weld? Your reasoning seems to berate the likes of Jeff Cooper & Clint Smith but then again what do they know about a firearm being "comfortable" ?

When Clint Smith made the comment about guns being comforting. Clint was speaking with another shooter and Clint gave his idea of what the ideal carry handgun should be.
Clint preferred a full size 1911 Govt model in .45acp. The other shooter stated that the 1911 is a big heavy gun ( 39 oz or there about) and would be uncomfortable for all day carry. That is when Clint stated " Guns should be comforting not comfortable" or something very similar.Clint at that time was referring to how comforting it is to know that there was a gun on his hip Not that the gun should not fit the shooter. Clint Smith even stated that on the Thunder Ranch Special pistol that the grips should be thinner because the thinner grips allow the shooter to get a better purchase on the gun. Just to be clear. I am a Glockaholic.
