Question for those who ordered Blackfeather Stocks

Hey guys,

I am just wondering how you plan on setting yours up externally? What kind of optics, stocks, handguards, etc. I am looking for ideas! One of the things I am torn between is going light with a ctr or going heavy to help with some of that recoil with a UBR or maybe building more of a precision style shooter with a PRS.
 
I have a UBR just waiting for the Blackfeather to arrive. I think it depends on the route that you're going to go. If you're trying to keep it light (as appears to be an option), the UBR is not the way to go.

I am sorta hoping the heavier UBR will balance things out a bit more. I have a Vltor eMod and tube that I might try out on it as well, but the plan right now is UBR!
 
I went with a OD green prs.. not great for keeping it low weight.

going to go with a magpul moe k grip, unless I can find something cooler.

as for optics - sightron 10x42 (or eotech 512 or aimpoint ml3 - if I decide I wanna pull them off something) - trying to figure out ring height right now for the casm mount - an input? will low work? for rings I'm thinking arms low #22

as for the rest of the rifle - NM flash hider, regular hand guard, BFG sling (maybe) have not decided on bi pod- maybe an atlas if I get brave.
 
I'm aiming for a multi- use rig that I can take hunting or use at the range - so i'm getting a CASM stock with a cheek rest, Hogue grip, Magpul AFG and Zeiss 3-9x40. Should look similar to the Blackfeather picture except for the stock. Keeping the weight down was a factor for me since I might be lugging this through bush.

I'm going to stick with the stock FH for now although I'm considering a muzzle brake - not sure is muzzle blast or kick bothrs me more. Keeping an eye on the muzzle brake thread for good ideas.

Can't wait to get this rifle built :rockOn: and would like to do before and after tests of group sizes...still waiting on the scope.
 
I'll be using my MK14 Mod 1 type SEI barreled action with their chrome lined 18.0" standard weight 4 groove 1:10 ROT barrel built on a heel stamped Norinco receiver with a DC Vortex flash eliminator.

I ordered a BATTLELINK™ Utility Low Profile Stock and Adjustable Cheek Piece and I have a spare Magpul MIAD, all black. I'll be using a nice looking Poly Tech hand guard... I'm unsure about what optics/mount combo to use and will shoot irons only in the beginning. I'm also unsure about using a bipod or fore grip at this time.
 
H20 - you have a casm mount already, correct?

how high does it set your optics above your handguard?
will I be able to use a 42mm objective with low rings and clear everything?

I have a Gen I mount on my MK14 Mod 0, pictured below with a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T
3.5-10x40mm in LOW rings from SEI... I think a 42mm will work, but I'm not positive.
* NOTE: the SAGE top rail does sit higher than the standard hand guard.

ha! tricked you into posting a picture of one of your beauties! (not that you need any encouragement)

Thanks for the info. looks like I'll be golden.
it's only going to be 1mm lower on the bottom of the objective, and it looks like you have ample clearance between that 40 and the sage rail (which you state is higher)

Good info for those who are using the casm and wondering about scope rings!
 
Mine will be with the casm gen 2 mount, with a millet LRS 6-24x50 on top of millet low rings. Going to use a OD green magpul ctr with 3/4" cheek riser and a magpul moe k grip. Most of the parts are sitting here and waiting.

I have a gen 1 casm mount on mine with a 50mm objective on low rings, it clears everything, I'll post a pic later tonight to show.
