Ideal Muzzle Break for M305

The "obnoxious" one, is that one not sold by Armtac as well?? I thought I saw it on the site, if so with it bolt onto the new shorties? Or do the threads need modification? It caught my eye but I wasn't sure if it were a direct fit?

The one that I have is on a shorty that was cut down and tweaked by the previous owner. To be completely honest, I'm not sure what threads are on the barrel, so I don't know if it'll fit a standard Norc. I believe that he bought the brake from Dlask.

The A6 muzzle break is made by Dlask Arms and is not a direct fit. It is usually threaded in 1/2" x 28tpi and bored out for .30 cal. from original size of .22. There is also a version for the CZ858/VZ58 threaded in 14x1.
However, I know that they will do a custom threading, as I was going to get one in 5/8x32tpi. Best bet is to call them.

I just ordered the brake from Springfield Armory. I hope it fits on my M305 shorty. They had one that was Cali legal and one that wasn't, anyone know what the difference would be? I ordered the California legal one with the installation kit.

I just tried to get the same Springfield kit from brownells and was denied!?! That is good news.

armtac has SEI stuff, we should ask them!

5/8-24? hmm I have a BNIB pws triad that was going to go on my XCR, maybe not now...

I have using the PWS Triad on my Shorty Troy setup. Just got the thread adaptor and have had no issues. Also have the PWS FSC30, a US navy break, A2 bored for .30 As well as the Smith adaptor that uses the factory Norc spline & threads. And a Dlask vortex. Only have 4 M14s and about 6 or 7 brakes kicking around. Love my options.

Really, there is no end to the brakes that can be used. Your imagination is the limit. Look for what you want or like, then make it work :)

Let me know how it works out. Can a recent shorty owner or someone with experience chime in with details on what the muzzle break situation is? I have a shorty from the latest batch but I'm afraid to pull the flash hider off in case I have to drag it into a smith or am unable to get anything else on.

this one is the latest shorty from Canam and the SAI brake works fine...

All I can say is Wow! In less than a week I received my muzzle brake from Springfield. I just installed it on my M305 and am going to the range to try it out.
It was a perfect fit. The California Legal model is a muzzle brake while the non compliant model is a Flash hider, this was explained to me by a Springfield rep.

Pics Soon.

To me the ideal muzzle brake for an M305/m14 would be one that reduces the overall length over the original design. If it can reduce it by an inch, all the better. I haven't seen anything that fits that bill yet, other than rethreading the barrel end and installing something reamed out and made for a ar-15. A shorter brake or FS just seems fitting for a shorty rifle. The original doesn't.

Nice hat :)

Has anybody tried the Surefire Brakes?
Okay,
I went to the range last night and tested the muzzle brake from Springfield Arms. As stated before, the installation was quite easy and the fit and finish on the new brake is quite nice.

I found that the recoil was reduced quite a bit with the new brake installed and getting back on target was much faster.

Here is a short video of the test.

Thanks
